Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask but I couldn't find more accurate one.

I had a not working transmission in my F30. I bought a used one on a local auctions website. This transmission was in F10, but the seller said it's gonna fit my car. It's 8hp one, not sure if all F30s has this one installed.

Anyway, we just replaced the old one with the new one, filled out with the oil and... it doesn't work. We can't turn either the reverse or drive mode.

I did some coding for the previous one:
1. Shift pads (with wire from the module too)
2. Sport transmission
3. Sport+ mode

I did everything through Bimmercode.

Is there any coding we need to do first to make it work? Should I change the coding back to the previous settings? It would be amazing if we can make the coding through Bimmercode as its the only one way to code for us at the moment.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Edit: we found 3 following errors: CF16D1, 421326 and 421324.

Thank you,
Mateusz

I'll be of no help in this thread, but I'm following anyway because I'm very curious as to how this turns out.

I was able to find this page that allows you to look up the fault codes:

Based on your last two errors, it looks like there is definitely some coding that needs to be done. Coding that I very much doubt can be done with Bimmercode. One specifically seems to be a conflict of a VIN not matching between the trans and vehicle.

There's a ton of coding that needs to be done in order for this to work. Enough that I would think Bimmercode will not be sufficient. Maybe post this in the coding section, you might get some more help there.

You need to code the VIN to your donor transmission so that the TCU will be allowed to shift it. There's def more beyond that but the error codes should tell you what else is going on.

Can you just use the original transmission module (computer)? Just thinking out loud

I don't know what is involved but my local indy has been advertising for some time that they are one of the few in my country who can do what is needed to get a donor 8HP to work. They call it resetting the immobilizer of 8HP. So there is probably much more to it than just coding / changing VIN.

Good idea overall.
I think transmission should be on same I-level at least to start communicating with the rest of the system. So yes, programming is needed.
