How to install OEM BMW LED license plate light
You will need:
2 LED license plate lamp (# 63 26 7 193 293) 2 Universal Socket (# 61 13 6 925 634).....also called "Plug Connector". 4 Bushing Contact (61 13 0 005 199)..........also called "Pin Contacts). All items are OEM BMW parts and available from TisherBmw or your local BMW dealer................Once you have all the parts, just insert Bushing Contact into Universal Contact. Then cut the old wire from the old lamp (the closer to the old connector the better, but not too close in case you want to use the old lamp in the future)..........Then connect the Bushing Contact wire to the old spliced wire and use electrical tape to cover the connected wire................and you are done. My car still shows error, other than that they work fine............previously I had LED bulbs from Jlevi, also with error (it just does not bother me)...............................PS: you may want to cover one of the Bushing with electrical tap so that it does not touch with the other bushing (the bushing are pretty close to each other once you insert them into the Socket. 2 Bushing Contacts goes into each Socket. Also if the light does not come on once all is connected, connect the wire the other way around.) I hope this helps some of you to get OEM LED light on your cars............good luck.

i have the OEM ones installed on my E60 M5 for 10 months ago , I can tell you guys ,, don't ever try anything except OEM ones .. it last forever ..
but offcourse you gotta hook it up with a resistor indeed .. the aftermarket will look brighter as a light power but it wont spread the light on all over the licence plate which will give an ugly aftermarket mood for those Honda type R cars always do here in Dubai ... but the OEM not that much bright , but it gives the OEM look like any other 2009 BMW cars ... specailly if you drive E92 2008 , you know what guys .. one of the main difference between 2008 and 2009 is the LED licence plate ... I'm replacing it today on my E92 335 |

the best way to do this is buy genuine led license plate lights which are not expensive and you have 2 year warranty.
the next step is to buy a wiring harness thats plug and play. you plug one end to the original connector that went to the light and the other end to the new led`s and tuck back into boot. this harness i bought from a guy on ebay called bruce miranda for £30 and seems alot of money for what it is but its guaranteed to do the job with no errors. its worth the money for the peace of mind. in all the total was £50 including the new led`s which also come with new lense. then you need 10 minutes of your time and a small screwdriver and a piece of cardboard so you dont mark the paint getting the original license plate lights out. they do look awesome. i will post pics soon. |

Even with the resistors they "strob/flicker" a couple times from the Lighting Control Module (LCM) testing the circuit every time you start the car. The power is not enough to light the coils of the OEM Bulb but enough to flash the low power OEM LEDs.
Have someone start your car with the lights off and watch what looks like a malfunction to me. If anyone has a fix for this that would be great. |

I installed one Oem license plate light, and left the other original one in. Im going to install today the other led license plate light, but I'm not sure if it will give me error. If it does, cant i just take it to the dealer and have them reset my car, and that would be it?
