Extended Warranty
Hi Community, I'm new to the BMW world awaiting my first X5 to finish up the building process(June 3RD) and I'm looking for advice on what the cost is on an extended warranty. Looking to get the BMW warranty not an after market produce which is what my dealer is offering. Any advice/options on where to buy(please provide dealer name and number) would be greatly appreciated.

We ended up getting an extended warranty at purchase. It was offered by dealer, through continental. Years over mileage was what I needed as we keep our cars a while but only do about 8k miles per car, per year.
96 Months / 85K Miles -> $3700 Zero deductible, accepted at all BMW dealerships. This warranty coverage as the equivalent of warranty from BMW in terms of coverage I had a sales guy send me some quotes for BMW Coverage for same term, was $6500. I am unsure of how the price changes once the car is sold as it is no longer a new car but effectively used. |

I was quoted the same Continental warranty for 7/100K for $2930 but I'm afraid to go aftermarket. I'm coming from Acura for the last 2 cars and I always went with factory warranty. I didn't get to see a copy of the contract, do you fell its a good policy??? Thanks for the feedback!

Following this with great interest: car arrived at dealership I am likely going in this weekend to collect. What are best practice re extended warranty? Should I get it now vs later when warranty runs out? Assume there is a upfront discount of some sort, right? Appreciate any tips and experience.. and how much typically?

If you know your going to keep the car longer than the original 4 years and planning on putting high mileage, its highly recommended to get the warranty early on. JayP@TulleyBMW might be able to chime in |

I have 28k now so the years will trigger the expiration before the mileage. |

RoccoD that just covers the bumper to bumper warranty? I was wondering if there was a way to extend the maintenance plan as well. for 5k, I feel like I could put a nice downpayment on a new vehicle!

I was burned badly when Warranty Gold went belly up. I did participate in a class action suit and recovered somewhat. Very suspicious of 3rd part plans. Buyer beware.
