Exclamation F30 newbie - toasted!

SO I just decided to go for a little Saturday fun on my F30 and the Toretto in me stepped out. I am going to be completely honest even if I sound like a total idiot... I blew the transmission for not operating the sport mode properly. or so I believe. I think I went too far without shifting into second gear after the green light... and about half a block the car just made a big bang and the wheels locked in... I did about 55 mph in that sprint and after the wheels locked the car just shift it back into neutral and made a complete stop about a block after.

I am now thinking The transmission is toasted - the drivetrain warning came on describing the trans. can no longer shift gears and it won't turn on either. you cannot move the shifter.

Does anyone have an idea of what else could it be damaged from this issue?

all I know if that It will cost me a lot of money to repair it.

Thank you.

I think you may have a weak tranny to start with, the ZF8 should still handle rpm bouncing off the rev limiter, the computer shouldn't have allowed you to damage the tranny either way. It's not like a manual where you can force downshift and blow everything up.

We need more details:

Mileage?
Trans ever serviced?
Stored codes?

He mentioned in another thread that his car has 158k miles...

OP: Does your car have the 8 speed automatic? You can't really "operate the sport mode improperly" if your car has the ZF8. The automatic will not let you rev past the rev-limiter and will not let you downshift when the RPMs are too high for the next lower gear.
Your transmission may have failed from something caused by high mileage, poor maintenance by the previous owner or abuse.
Give us some more information like transmission maintenance history, codes the car is now throwing, symptoms, etc.

That's too bad. Don't feel bad about having a little fun with the car. What's the point of having a luxury car if you're just going to baby it all the time?

This is why you should always keep up with maintenance. And never listen to a carmaker's recommendation if they claim anything is "lifetime fill." ZF 8HP tranny fluid needs to be changed at 60k miles.
