lol that is just too funny...he completely destroyed that M3. (maybe cuz its a cabrio)
I would pick a C63 AMG over M3 anyday...I don't drive through twisties daily so cleary the C63 is far more superior if not driven on a track No fanboy stuff here. M3 boned by C63 AMG!! |

It's a convertible! Imagine trying to race someone with two football players in your back seat.

Well since this is a public forum I believe I'm entitled to speak whenever I want and give my opinion whether Mantis gives me permission or not.
Besides, that's the point of the posted video to show the C63 AMG winning.. So, what do you think people are suppose to say in response to that? Either way it lost in a straight line (even though it's a cab) and if you dont care/want to hear that to BAD. |

obviously the m3 vert was going to lose. we didn't need a video to see that.
also, JesusFreak, even if the car isn't tracked, there are reasons to opt for the M3. Like the fact that it looks better, comes with bigger and better wheels, better mpg, better ride quality, better handling and driving dynamics (you don't need a track to appreciate the complete control and command of the road the M offers). if it's as black and white to you as straight line or track, you might as well get a GTO. |

Ya I heard you can get mustangs to go pretty fast in a straight line with the right mods, mind as well just get one of those. It will kill the M3 and the C63. Mustang FTW

yes it's a public forum and you can speak your mind, but everyone can see that your opinions are only done to create an argument/debate and nothing else. I would like to see a race against a M-DCT M3 coupe and a C63, both stock of course. Whether the M3 wins or the C63 is not that important because both are great cars and equally good but for different reasons. I personally would just love to see the result of such a race because I don't think anyone can predict the outcome. |

From 0-250....it was close....I didn't expect a e93 to hang that close...Maybe the M3 launch control is really that good....Hmmm, this makes me wonder why a regular e90/e92 M3 wasn't used

Drive an M3, drive a C63, if you still want the C63 all you care about is straight line speed, period. The M3 is the superior all around package, always has been, always will be.
And anyway, the M3's aftermarket has a while before takeoff. I remember when I had the E46 M3 and people were complaining there was not enough power and the C32 was easier to mod. E46 M3's are putting out 700+ to the wheels now, C32's are nowhere. More power is always available, good luck getting a better chassis on the C63. |

In a drag race the C63 has an advantage over any form of the M3 up to 100km/h, but with the DCT Coupe/Sedan, that advantage quickly disappears with the DCT Coupe/Sedan having a clear advantage from about 125km/hr onwards (this is assuming cars are drag racing to redline). Reasons for this are the M3's higher revving engine which allows it to use shorter gear ratios that eliminate most of the torque advantage of the C63, especially from 3rd gear onwards...
The Vert's weight is its killer here - it is clear that in the second race, a DCT coupe or sedan would have beaten the C63, the Vert was actually gaining slightly on the C63 at one point around 240km/hr... ON the first race, the C63 would be quicker starting from 50km/h but I'd wager a DCT Coupe/Sedan would reel it in and overtake by 250km/h... |

I agree with your opinion Mixja, I too reckon the normal M3 will overtake the C63 given a long enough straight. Though I am wondering how the result would change in the rolling start when there isn't that 250kgs extra weight killing it's take out at the start.
Tell me, does anyone else think the M3 hits the limiter in the first two shifts on the rolling start race? |

Guys,
Rewatch the video and tell me if the M3 is running in the same drivelogic mode, I'm pretty sure it isn't. There is little or not surge in the rolling start and the shift doesn't sound as crisp. Does anyone know the answers to this? |

A comparison of the M3 DCT Vert vs DCT Coupe has been posted on YouTube...
Here's what the M3 DCT Vert vs C63 and M3 DCT Vert vs DCT Coupe races look like when the guy says 250km/h in each... Based upon the above you'd have to say the C63 still beats a DCT Coupe from rolling, although I do think the Vert got the jump on the Coupe....still the difference between the C63 and DCT Coupe will be pretty close... |

All are awesome cars! To me its a choice between the M3 coupe or convertible. If you love the open air driving experience, there is no beating the vert. If its overall performance you desire, take the coupe. The C63 is too one dimensional, straight line speed.

The C63 isn't as one dimensional as you think, kit it out with the performance pack which includes stiffer suspension and the all important LSD and you have something which will get pretty close to the M3 on the track. Basically what you loosely have then is something approaching a CLK Black series with 4 doors and we all know how well they handle.

M3 isn't really a drag race car. Not surprising the C63 wins it's got a much more powerful engine. That's really all that counts in a drag race. Nothing to be upset about cause it's not going to take turns like the M3.
