Just had M Performance Exhaust installed. Why is is quieter inside the car now???
I thought it would be LOUDER. Is is possible the amplification is turned off now? if so, how do I fix that?
Thank you!

Which one did you get? Do you have the part number handy? Did you get the one with chrome tips or did you have to get the tips separately?
There's no "amplification" other than ASD which is software driven and not affected at all by installing an axle back exhaust. It might have to do with your exhaust valve. Maybe it wasn't installed correctly and it isn't opening. It most likely is a little louder but not as much as you were expecting. |

It is brand new and has the separate chrome tips. I am wondering if the exhaust valve isn't opening correctly. The inside cabin sound is MUCH quieter than it was with stock exhaust. Like night and day quieter. I heard the ASD loudly before with stock exhaust. Now I hear almost nothing inside the car with windows up. Sounds like comfort mode even in Sport mode.

There's not really a big difference in sound between Comfort and Sport in our cars.
I ask about the part number because there is an older version that is supposedly not as loud. Anyway, if you just got it installed, you might just have to wait a bit to break it in. New exhausts do tend to be a bit quieter than well used ones. |

My warranty won’t though and there’s no way in hell im risking having to pay $$$ for repairs covered due to a dp. Once I’m off warranty, diff story.

Go MPPSK. It's covered by BMW warranty and sounds fabulous. I never have a problem with my car getting "quieter".

I'm pretty sure in my car, the ASD is either turned off or it is not even on the car considering it was sold with MPPSK on it as part of the ZHP package.

Save your money, MPPK isn't worth it. I went MPE/MPPK when I first bought my car and regret it ever since. Go straight to BM3 and catless DP when you're out of warranty and be happy with MOAR power for less DOLLAS!

I’m considering your advice. MPPK is $1240 and another $300 to install. I’m thinking I’d be better served with new rotors and painted calipers to upgrade the look and performance of my brakes and bank the rest of the $.

Funny, most people hate it and code it off, but if you like it then grab Bimmercode and a tool and code it back, better yet code some M3 sound so it's crazy loud. I've experimented with some settings in Bimmercode and managed to make it miserably impossible to be inside the cabin, sounded like a mustang with straight pipes inside |

That being said, if anyone wants a quick and cheap way to get more sound into the cabin that ISN'T fake, just lower your two rear seats. I'm ot sure how insulated the F30 trunk is compared to my F80, but when my seats are down with the MPE it sounds like the engine is in the back seat... reminded me of a 987 S with the PSE.

Download Bimmercode in your Android or Iphone app store and you can play with the settings in the test mode without buying and activating it. No it will not throw any codes nor will it void warranty You’re not coding anything detrimental, for all you know a previous owner had BMW code it off for him. Plus they’ll never even notice ASD no ASD Last edited by MT4life; 05-06-2019 at 03:50 PM.. |

I'm actually experiencing the same thing at the OP. I just installed the MPE myself #340 on my 335i and it does seem quieter in the car but behind the car sounds louder. I think what is happening is the exhaust gasses can escape better from the MPE as it is freer flowing and we don't get the sound trapped in the old stock muffler resonating into the cabin. Just my guess. It sounds good from behind the car. :-)

ASD is disabled after MPE is installed (by dealer). You can see that if you have coding software like Bimmer Code or Monitor ing software like Bimmerlink.
