Slippy in rainy day, what should i do?
https://youtu.be/A8pb-qrilZs
Dash cam record above. Driving 20km/h which is about 12mph at the corner, rear wheel lose grips. Any solutions? Should i change my tyres? I only used them for one year, stock continental run flat tyres. Front 225/45/18, Rear 255/40/18. |

Which specific model number of continental tire is it? Is it Summer or All season tires? .What is the temperature when you did this corner at 12mph and lost grip? Was there oil on the road? debris or leaves, etc? Did this happen ever before during your one year of driving or is this the first time? how many miles do you have on the tires? are all tires the same model? Do you have dry-rot on the tires? was traction control off? Do you have x-drive? do you need an alignment? is the suspension ok on the car? is steering ok? what Mode was the car in[sport/comfort]? was tranny in in Auto mode- stick to left or right for your country? is it a manual tranny? any other problems with the car? I looked at video, it looks like you made the turn a bit "abruptly" and tight then accelerated very quickly and/or there was a slick on the road maybe debris, a puddle, oil, etc. or something that caused it to be a slippery turn... did it happen again or ever before? can you reproduce this on a Different road and intersection? does this occur in dry weather?

I see, the last couple BMW's I've had came with the Continental and I never was happy with them. I changed mine to the Michelin Pilot Sport for summer and use snow tires in winter. I bet if you changed the tires out it would drive better. I never really liked the Contis. even though you only put on 8700 miles it still could be worn past its "best performance" stage and maybe you should consider new tires. you can try to complain to BMW maybe they will honor a rebate on new tires if you tell them you are not happy with them. good luck with it and safe driving

probably not a tire issue. my car came with bridgestones but they performed great in the rain with the heavy stock wheels. it might be *better* with different tires, but that doesn't answer the question of why your stock tires lost grip.
you probably just hit something like some leaves or a puddle. you can also check your alignment maybe? your camber/toe might be out of wack in the rear. |

BTW, Conti tyres are well respected here in Europe. I'm running CSC RFTs on my 535i, no issues in the wet up here in the Scottish Highlands. |

Those run flats aren't great however in this specific situation there could have been an oil slick or something on the road. If you have plenty of tread and this hasn't happened before I would lean towards that conclusion.

Was that the first rain in a while? That makes the road greasy every time. Here in Vegas we can go months with no rain. Along comes a bit of rain and its like driving with ball bearings between you and the road surface.

Good point, and I have driven and rode thousands of miles up there. However most OEM RFT's get very slippery after about 5k miles on wet pavement. Most reviews are within about a 100 or 200 miles, then people don't come back and update those reviews. |

I was told by tire rep recently when replacing my wife's continental tires that continental are overpriced garbage tires.
