How Smart is an xdrive Transfer Case?

Calling all coders:

How smart are sensors on an xdrive transfer case?

Is a code thrown if the fluid level drops too low?

If so, what is that code?

Not sure exactly what you are asking. Transfer cases, transmissions and differentials are basically "sealed". If the fluid is low, then you have blood spots all over your driveway where it's leaking, so there is no "sensors" nor does there need to be.

From what i recall there is no level sensor in the Tcase . The Tcase can sense overheat and clutch slippage and would throw a fault for those 100%

I'll repeat.

Does the box throw a code when the fluid is too low?
If so, what is the code?

It's a simple question.

I believe you are correct.

My transfer case is leaking. There is a fill plug and a vent, but no drain plug.

I'm trying to determine whether I will do nothing about this or pay $2,000 to a stealership to replace an oil seal that clearly failed for a reason and will do so again.
