Permanently Disable Auto Stop/Start?

On my 3 Series and on my X5 I was able to have the annoying Auto Stop/Start feature remember it’s last known position and thus always remain in the “off“ position.

Is this possible for the X7 at the dealer (or via coding)?

You can do it with BimmerCode on the new X5,so it should also work on the X7.I am going to send the App developer a message and confirm that it works for the X7.

Thanks! Let me know what you find out.

Did anyone request that the dealer disable the feature (remember last setting)?

We did try to ask for it, said not possible. Waiting
to find a way to cancel it without changing the code. It’s annoying.

This was the App developers reply,

it will most likely, but has not been tested so far.

Who wants to be the first to see if it works.I haven’t used BimmerCode yet,so maybe someone with experience using the App should give it a try.

I haven't received my X7 yet but I do have BimmerCode and the ODB2 adapter if anyone wants to try Westchester County, NY.

Isn’t this something you can just turn off and it will stay off? Is it connected to your user settings?

Not by design, no. Must be coded off.

That sucks. I hate this feature. I don’t remember it ever being on when I test drove. Does it work really well where you don’t notice it?

I used it on a rental x90 once and it was not good.

I don't get why people hate it. It works well with the auto hold feature.

Because you feel it every time you stop and start. It's annoying.

I guess I'm one of the people that don't mind it.

I've got a bigger problem other than just minor annoyance. We live in a large metropolitan area where people drive very aggressively which forces us to drive aggressively to avoid issues. But the main problem is that we live on a street where getting to the main roads requires a burst of speed across two lanes of traffic that's supposed to be people going a calm 25 MPH who instead are doing more like 50 MPH.

When you need to really floor it and scoot across a busy road, the last thing you want is any hesitation whatsoever, you want a burst of instant torque and explosion forward. This was a problem in our X5 before I had Start/Stop coded off; the X7 being substantially heavier is an even bigger problem and I've got to get my wife to remember to hit the 'off' button, it's actually unsafe for our situation and a major concern for me.

I heard back again today from the App developer. He said to select the G30 5 series on the App and it should be able to code the engine ECU.I already have the UniCarScan adapter from Germany,so i might give it a try this weekend.

Maybe a dumb question, but are we talking about both the 40i and 50i? They’re both unable to disable this?

Is there a button to turn it off that must be pressed every time you start the car, or is there no way to do even that? I don’t remember it going off when I test drove, and I think I would’ve noticed cause I HATE that feature.

Yes, there is a button on the center consul to disable the start/stop feature.

My wife has been driving the X7 mostly, but on my M5, once to turn it off, it stays off on every startup. From what I recall when driving the X7, it stayed off as well....

It doesn't stay off in the X7.Your M5 is a M car.BMW still codes M cars to remember the last ASS setting from the factory. So when you turn it off in your M5,it stays off the next time you start the vehicle.
