Removal of i8 front kidney grills

Hi all,

I'm just about to buy an i8 as my daily driver. However, the particular car that I'm buying has the blue trim whilst I prefer the silver.

How do the front kidney grills attach please ?

Thanks.

You have to remove the front trim cover/bumper cover for it. Each kidney ist fixed from behind the cover with 7 small (Torx-)screws.

The front cover is fixed by around 25-30 screws and two plastic rivets.
The screws behind the inner wheelhousing cover are a bit tricky to find and loosen.
Don' forget to unplug cam and PDC sensors and remove temperature sensor before taking the front off.

Brilliant. Thank you.

On a similar topic, is it possible to pry out just the blue part of the kidney? I may just get them painted or paint myself.

Thanks,
Chris.

I've never tried it but should be possible. There are a couple of clips.

It's probably easier and cheaper to buy kidney grills with blue accents.

I painted the accent parts with Lumilor LEC.
See here:

Working fine!
