Seat Back iPad Holders

Has anyone been able to order these? Will the G05 ipad holder fit the G07? I'm not looking for the one that clamps on the headrest but the one that connects to the socket in the middle of the driver/passenger seat backs. Seems like it should but has anyone tried this yet?

My kids thank you in advance!

Presumably, you're asking about the Travel and Comfort system. That's universal among all BMW models that have it installed.

Matches the color of the molded seat back plastic quite well. Do you have children that will be using it?

Is the safety case specific to the iPad model? If I have the most recent non-Pro 9.7" ipad is that the same part number? Thanks Pipe

You're putting out some cool pics, man.

Is the iPad safety case required? If the iPad is already in a case (i.e. Otterbox or Zagg) will it just pop in the holder?

It might work with another case but these are pretty low profile. They're designed to mate with each other. The universal holder only has about a 3/8" space to fit.

questions...

Do all X7 come with the seat preparation mount/connector for these universal holders or do you have to order the $2200 rear seat entertainment professional option to be able to use this?

Does each universal holder have its own USB charging port or would you have to run a longer charge cable to the rear of the center console?

Thanks. Your pics are great! Tartufo looks awesome.

all x7s have that travel and comfort thing built into the two front seats. you don't need the entertainment package for that.

so you're free to buy whatever you want to plug into those two seats. the bench and captains seat backs do NOT have this plugging receptacle. so for third row passengers you can buy something that attaches to the second row headrest poles and then plug into that.

re safety cases they have a little notch at the bottom that holds them in place and works very well with the travel and comfort holder. i think you are pretty much forced to spend 50 bucks per device to attach it. maaaaaaaybe the case you have will work but it wont be as secure. worth a shot

PIPE_DR love the ashtray in the floor cupholder on the side of the child car seat. Junior must be picking up the habit early.

Actually, I've been curious. I don't have any interest in the rear entertainment system (I find two iPads for the kids to be a much better option) but does the rear entertainment screens block the travel and comfort ports and make them unusable?

True. Part you could use for the 3rd row is the base system listed here:
https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/3...AVEL---COMFORT

Youtube video in Russian showing it here with the hangar attachment:

And a BMW ad on Youtube showing the various attachments. I'm kind of intruiged by the GoPro mount. Wonder how intrusive that'd be in real life.

And also to mention, each 3rd row seat also has a USB-C power port built into their armrest.

Yeah, I'd have to try that out. I'd just hate to give up the awesome drop protection of an Otterbox Defender, or Zagg Tough Book cases, just for the minority of the time we'd put the iPads in the car. Most of the time, we use our iPads in real life other places.

If you order the rear entertainment system, you lose the travel and comfort set up.

Is that true for the third row as well, if I have captains chairs and rear entertainment as factory options? Trying to figure out how to get an iPad mounted in the third row—kid #3 feeling left out...

This is true. OtisX7 if you have the rear entertainment system, the screens for the 2nd row block where the ports would be for the travel and comfort system. The rear entertainment system does not have anything for the 3rd row, so either way, with or without the rear entertainment system, the way to add an iPad in the 3rd row is with the base module that ppagiga posted above.

Awesome -- thank you both.

Now a trickier question -- has anyone been able to figure how to make an iPad, or another screen in the third row, "sync up" with the vehicle entertainment system, so that the third row is watching the same program as the others? I'd even be fine if, using an iPad in the third row, the oldest kid could mirror her screen, and choose a program for all three of them to watch through all the screens and sound system?

Thx.

I just installed 2 IPAD Mini holders in our X740i. I find the IPad Mini looks more custom than the larger 9.7" iPads. What do you guys think? The down side with the Mini holders is they will only fit IPad Mini 1,2&3 but not the latest Gen 4. The Gen 4 is slightly bigger and will not fit. For me no big deal my kids will use the iPads for streaming videos 90% of the time. The other downside is you will have to remove the iPads from any case to install in the holder. For us it's no big deal we plan to have two mini's dedicated to the X7 and will always stay in the SUV. You can find Gen 1,2&3 iPad Minis for very reasonable prices. Enjoy the pics

Did you use the 2-part system (case and universal holder) or does this 1 piece unit also work for a fraction of the cost?

Does anyone have the part number for iPad mini holder that clips into the Travel and Comfort port on the back of the front seats. Also does it come with the charging cable that plugs in there as well?
