re: bluetooth without BMW assist

Hey folks, just curious to know if there is a way to get hands free bluetooth feature in the car without ordering the BMW assist feature. do you think any aftermarket can be programmed into the radio for display or are we stuck with the BMW assist for this feature. I'm just about ready to order and I'm finding it hard to find a car with the assist without acutally ordering direct from the plant [lead time issues with me!]

maybe if you get an aftermarket headset,

if you want bluetooth you'll have to have assist. Most people end up with the premium package anyways so this isn't an issue

if you're spending this kind of money for the car, isn't it worth the extra time to get the car the way you want it from the factory????

Sure, but I had someone assume my lease on my current car and I need a car right away, that's why I can't wait the three months.

BMW Assist is not included with the PP on Canadian Cars and is a separate $1,200.00 CDN option.
I tried to order the Assist 2 days after the car was ordered but was told it was too late!
Salesman told me Bluetooth could be added later, but I think he was wrong.

You could always get an aftermarket bluetooth kit. Sony ericsson and nokia, motorolla and I'm sure most other cellphone manufacturers make them. You buy it, get a sound tech to install it and it works. The downside is it doesn't work with your steering wheel, they usually come with their own controllers that you stick somewhere on your dash (or armrest)

yah, that's the thing, I don't want this to look like an afterthought. I want it to work through the steering wheel and the radio, so I either get the BMW assist or I guess I'm screwed.
