Foul play or no?

Guys I need some opinions.

I dropped off some 3 piece wheels for powder. The shop owner sent me this picture earlier today. I'm not sure what happened. Has anybody ever seen anything like this before?

I first thought it was something natural, on the road. But when I cleaned the wheels, I don't remember this being there. To be honest though, I didn't examine the wheels super close.

Does it look like it was cut or something? Could a tire machine or another tool have done this accidentally? A crack wouldn't be this clean of a line, right?

I don't know, it's hard to say. Don't think it looks like a cut and have seen cracks that are very straight. Judging from the dirt/corrosion in the crack itself, it looks like it might've been there for a while...

Yeah as said it looks a little dirty in the crack which would mean it's old and also if you look close, the edges of the crack might not appear super jagged but they do look rough/jagged and not like a cut from a cutoff wheel or anything.

Looks like a legit crack, the tapered nature and the fact it looks dirty. This would also be on the inside of the rim so no way you would have caught that by just cleaning them.
