M235 vs M240 sport mode? Seems "worse" in M240
Hi, just moved from a stock M235ix conver to an M240ix convert.
Sport mode on the M235ix was pretty noticeable. Hit the button, engine reved higher. In the M240 it isn't noticeable / wondering if it's doing anything at all w.r.t the engine. The chassis does seem to feel the road more in sport mode. Anyone know if there is a difference or if I'm imagining it? Thanks. --Peter |

I find a rather significant difference in my car. Throttle response is very significant. The transmission holds longer and shifts faster. I turned off my ASD so who knows if it sounds any different. My cabin stays quiet because I want it that way right now.

I feel like with the M240 Comfort mode is more aggressive than the M235i but Sport/+ is not as aggressive - if that makes sense. I find myself driving in Comfort more since I've had the M240.

Ah, that could be it. Comfort is more aggressive and so sport less of a difference. I'll test it today a bit watching when the car does the shifting in both modes.

I haven't played around much with Sport/Sport+ in my 2017 M240i so I may be way off, but isn't it possible to adjust settings in each mode, between drivetrain and chasis, and then to save those settings? Perhaps yours has been adjusted so that Sport mode only adjusts the chasis?

If the car was test driven by others or something, it's possible they configured the sport mode to be less aggressive.
Personally I have my Sport mode set to normal steering, engine performance up, and adaptive suspension normal. This is my daily mode. I like it like this because there's more of a difference between the modes...instead of just one with traction on and one with traction off. |

Just asking because I bought a 2019 m240i xdrive auto M Performance Edition 2 weeks ago and am breaking it in. I've only gone up to sport mode (won't try sport + until I do an oil change at 1200 miles). |

Sport mode is configurable to either effect the dampers, steering and engine together or individually though. I believe there's a chart detailing all the different mode differences on babybmw forums |

I created a shortened version for the aspects that concern me, which are principally about using the car at the track:

So more testing with sports mode, and there certainly is a difference. Just different from my previous M235 so confused me. For example it seems to do less to boost idle throttle (maybe done) where as in the M235 the RPMs would immediately increase, even in idle. Probably to save some fuel but kinda miss it.
Thanks for that chart - I didn't realize that the steering was affected by the chassis setting. I run with drivetrain on and chassis off usually which is probably why I don't mind the steering. |
