high pitch electronic whine from around aircon display

Hey all, the day I took delivery I noticed that because the noise insulation is so good, I can hear a high pitch electronic whine coming from seemingly behind the small air conditioning display. I was wondering if anyone else is noticing it in theirs. If so, I'll just chalk it up to a quirk of the car and shrug it off it does get a little annoying.

I hear it when the engine is off, radio off, but power is still on. Not sure if there's another way to turn all power off than getting out and locking car ? I could turn all power off in my F15 by pressing the start/stop button after ignition was off

Ya I've tried to turn all power off, but have had no success. I've also tried to see if there was fuse that I could pull to isolate what circuit is causing the whine. But so far, the fuse box is a PITA to work with [located in the rear passenger side trunk area behind the first aid panel]. I'll ask my dealer about it

I honestly don't hear it when the car is running or any other time but when I have heard it, it's not concerned me. Just sounds like some kind screen noise. I don't think my wife has even noticed it. It's not loud in our car at all, But it's a faint in certain occasions. Not bothered by it, it might just be normal operation. If it's loud and bothering you, I'd have your service Dept look at it.

You are not alone my friend. I come to X7 forum just to find if anyone have this problem as I do.

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1589172

Most part of the noise is from A/C console, but also can be heard at the front overhead reading light panel, and speakers on each door. The only time the noise disappear, is when the car is totally off and locked. (I tried to lock my self inside just to test this ....). So it is might be the issue with electric components ....

I am still waiting to go to dealer check on this, will update once I do.

Sorry to hear that but glad I am not the only one ...

I have the same exact noise coming from the exact same spot on my wife's 2017 750xi. I hear it anytime the a/c display is on. Unfortunately, she doesn't hear it (or it doesn't bother her), so she won't take it in to get looked at. I also recall that I used to hear it on her 2012 750xi.

Guys, while I don't have an X5 or X7 (yet ), I do have a '17 M3 and I also have this same high pitch whine that you are referring to. I usually only hear it when the ignition is on, but the engine is off. I noticed it when I purchased my M3 2 yrs ago.

I think what you are hearing is just electronics noise from the car. The electronics and electrical relay systems in these cars are very complex and installed in tight spaces so it is no wonder you will hear some electronics noise. If you were to put your ear up close to some of the modern electronics in your house like tuners, TVs, cable boxes, etc, you would also be able to hear some electronics "whine" as well. Unless there is something wrong with the car, I think your car is fine and the dealer will tell you the same if you take it in.

In fact, if the electronics in the G05/07 is similar to the F80, you can "manually" turn on some electronics in the car that cause that whine. When your car is completely off after several minutes (and left unlocked), enter your car (with your key on you) and press the gas pedal. Opening the door will "wake up" the car, but I noticed pressing the gas pedal with the engine off wakes up a few more circuits that can contribute to the electronics whine you are hearing.

But bottom line, I would not worry about it...
