I think so, somewhere on here, but it's really as simple as I said.
Once I popped out my old CDV, I used an allen wrench that fit into the small end of the CDV, then used a mallet and gave it a light pop, and two pieces fell out, the restrictor and the clip that holds it in. Now you have a modified CDV, simple as that. Just use something that's about the same size as the opening and you'll be fine. There's really nothing to it.

Right, you leave them out. If you look through the hole before and after you'll see that it went from just about pin hole sized to much bigger. Now the fluid can flow more freely and the clutch will release quickly.

I did the CDV delete in my e46 M3, but since all of the dealers are crazy about the modded 335s, I thought I would put in a fake one instead.
The modified CDV is just some insurance.

Yeah, and honestly, it's a LOT easier to just mod your CDV rather than actually deleting it.

Follow the diy to get the piece out. Take a look at the removed part and everything said here will come into clear focus. Allen wrench set is all it takes. ________ LianaXSexy Last edited by satakal; 08-16-2011 at 05:45 PM.. |

I looked up some DIY on this modified CDV and it scared the shit out of me. Bleeding the lines, hooking up something to your brake fluid, I had no idea what was going on.

Understandable. If you have a buddy that has bled brakes before, bribe him to help you out. It's nearly identical to bleeding brakes.

I just took my modified CDV out to compare and it looks like the opening of the regular line is a little woder than the Modified CDV hole.
It's not much though. I'll keep in touch if I feel any difference.

I just modded mine yesterday and I wish I had done it sooner! Very easy install and it shifts like butter now, I love it! I didn't need to bleed my brakes either, I followed the directions from Terry (got it from burgertuning.com for $20) and used a C-clamp to close off the clutch line before I removed the CDV.
After the install, the first time I pressed the clutch in it went to the floor and didn't spring back out. So (being barefoot) I grabbed the clutch pedal w/my toes (like a monkey) and pulled it back out. I repeated this a few times and it pumped back to normal real quick. I also checked my reservoir just to be safe and everything looked good so I took it around the block. I could tell the difference Immediately. Especially from a dead stop to 1st & 1st to 2nd. Went w/the modded cdv just to be safe.

Really? It feels absolutely fine to me, just like it was before the install. If I felt any difference in where it engaged or any "spongyness" I would totally bleed it. I thought pretty much all modern master cylinders allow you to bleed out any small air bubbles simply by pumping the pedal a bunch of times.. at least that's what some homeless guy told me at the gas station. Man, now you got me all nervous.
