[Advice] Difference in maintenance costs of 320d to 330d

Hello,

Could you advise me on general maintenance costs for 320d and 330d?
Are there any major cost differences for parts in terms of general car maintenance? As 330d has the more powerful/sporty unit, does it have a more solid build which requires more money to maintain?

If there is a difference in costs, would you be able to provide me with a % value based on 320d costs?

Regarding general maintenance I think the only real difference is in the oil capacity but that is insignificant compared to total cost of ownership. Are you looking at a new car or an older one? If something breaks like a turbo then 330d parts will be more expensive.

Also you will need new rear tires more often in case of 330d

Used, probably 2016/16 with max 20k miles.
How likely is something going to break before 80-90k miles?

Keep in mind that 20d engine changed during 2015 to B47 (old one was N47) and out of those I would prefer B47 for various reasons. The smooth running 6 cylinder N57 is still of course much nicer engine.

There should be no issues with either 20d or 30d if they have been maintained and used properly. Well, apart from whole car burning due to EGR failure but BMW is now trying to take care of those issues with the recall

Most posters (USA/CA) only have experience with M57. Although a few 535d with N57 and current X5d are also N57, in European single turbo 30d form.

Most problems are with emissions controls, which are similar price to their N47 equivelents. Two more glowplugs, two more injectors - both these pieces are pricey, but rarely fail.
