New car advice

Lo there, guys and gals,
My current lease expires in November, and so, the 335xi coupe is one of the cars I'm considering. Since its strengths and virtues are more or less obvious, I decided compile a list of caveats that I would like to bounce off of you, people. Any corrections, additions or relevant comments are most appreciated.

1) Fuel pump failures - seems like this is the biggest issue of them all, affecting both 2007 and 2008 models. There doesn't seem to be a definitive fix, as some people have reported repeated failures, and BMW hasn't officially acknowledged this as a production defect.
2) Soft windshield that gets pitted easily.
3) Rough ride with RFTs.
4) iDrive - looks like people either love it or hate it.
5) Cupholders (haha)

Is there anything else I should be aware of? Please understand that it is not my intention to bash the car, I only want to make an informed decision. Thank you .

Welcome it is up to you on how much you are willing to give into the car.

RFT tires. Change em.

I have 19" FRT's and thats one thing i regret not changing... The ride quality is so hard, so brutal. Every little pot hole sounds like a nuke going off - SO FUCKING LOUD. Each pot hole i hit, i dread the tire pressure indicator going off. I think everytime i hear that fucking RFT tires go "CRACK!!!" when hitting a pothole my heart literally jumps a beat.

700$ a tire installed at the dealer btw.

I can only imagine what it must be like driving without RFT's... For a second i liked them, until i started hitting the holes, cracks and sewer caps.

...BUT the other week i couldnt avoid not 1 but 2 fucking potholes side by side on the highway (FUCK YOU MONTREAL!) and got a flat after hitting the pot holes... The tire pressure indicator told me i have a flat but i was able to go home and drive another 50km's no problems. Guess it saved me towing charges...

add cheap a-ss paint quality to your list as well....

-RFT's... I kept them on and have no real complaints.... If people think these tires are rough and making "nuke" noises I would kindly ask them to compare to other cars out there...In comparison to the ride on my GF's Mini Cooper S, the 335 feels great.

--Nav Sucks but I-drive is really nice....

--You are right on the cup holders.

-- Fuel Pumps are all being replaced by the dealers..... I would not let the effect my decision.

Good Luck

1) Fuel pump failures - I'm betting most of the US cars are HPFP problem-free.

2) Soft windshield that gets pitted easily - I must live in the rockiest, filthiest road crud-filled world ever and see no issues w/ my glass (yet).

3) Rough ride with RFTs - I surrounded with the worst county roads designed and have no ride complaints (potholes, can be a jolting experience, but they happen). I like the security.

4) iDrive - Try it, if you like it ,get it, if you dont, don't get it. I didn't & like the look w/o, no regrets.

5) Cupholders - If this is an issue, then I think you are shopping for the wrong car. It holds my Crystal Springs water bottle just fine.

I love my car. Everything about it just makes me smile and I can't wait to get in and drive off. The e92 is that much better and I imagine you will not be disappointed despite your (short) rag list.

Good luck.
