I use Castrol SRF: https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-SRF-R...dp/B000JL760C/
You flush either when it needs it (i.e., you boiled the fluid at your last event (something that shouldn't happen unless you're overusing the brakes)), or when the club you're running with says you must. For example, my local BMW club requires a brake flush every six months, while the local Porsche club requires an annual brake flush. If you don't flush before an event, I strongly recommend that you bleed them.

Regarding SRF's ability to absorb water, I believe the opposite. From Bimmerworld's SRF product description page (https://www.bimmerworld.com/Castrol-...ake-Fluid.html): "SRF is a hydrophobic fluid - it repels water instead of absorbing it. This allows it to maintain a very high wet boiling point compared to hygroscopic fluids." That's why I've chosen it, and why it was recommended to me by both Bimmerworld and TC Kline Racing. In any event, I flush my fluid before each event. It's not necessary, but that's how I choose to do it.
