Radar Hard Wire
Just hard wired my RD.
I used fuse 253 in the trunk, a 7.5 amp fuse. Super fast, super easy, but this is my 6th BMW hardwire. There were some post with concerns about laser interference, but I've had no issues (it's an old Escort 9500ix RD). I find the trunk is just easier to hardwire. I think there is a fuse box somewhere in the footwell on the front passenger side. |

The laser issue relates to the RD in play and the features in one's G05.
I had to disabled laser on my V1, but no such problem with R3 that has the best range but does not do much with laser. I am anxious to see what the new R7 does in my vehicle. Since I am preparing to sell my R3, I put the Escort 360 in the G05 and I had to disabled laser on that unit which does not have stellar laser sensitivity.

BMW Genius told me it is 2 cameras? Either way, that's a band-aid but glad it worked for you. Does this mean the gesture control must be disabled in some fashion to avoid the false alerts?

Correct. And it can’t simply be turned off in the iDrive. The sensor must be physically obscured by black tape.

Confirmed with Valentine Tech that there is no way Valentine can make this work with the gesture control. Use electrical tape over the sensor or disable laser on the V1. One could argue that if you get laser'ed, you are caught anyhow but it would be 'safer' to just use the electrical tape over the sensor.
Why route the power line all the way to the trunk? Why not use the a wire in the dome area? |

I thought my V1 was broken until I read this post. Today was my first time using it in my X5. It was going off crazy non stop. I guess I can’t use it with this car.

You can disable laser or put a piece of tape on the X5's camera near the dome to prevent the V1 from going off constantly. I still haven't read anyone successfully installing with the dome light. I've read folks routing to the rear but that seems like a PITA.
