saw this earlier... question??

**EDIT** Found what I need to buy thanks to dvpouldar26 http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/index.php
NOW does anyone know what SIZE i need to purchase (what size are our exhaust pipes leading to the muffler)

alright so a while back I remember someone mentioned they purchased a valve of some sort where they put in before their mufflers and it worked like a butterfly valve and when he pushed the button it had a smaller pipe coming off and it closed the airway to the mufflers and opened that so it seemed like he had straight pipes and whenever he wanted he could CLOSE that smaller pipe with the push of the button and have full airflow to the mufflers and have a normal exhaust

ANYONE have the link to this device? thank you!

Here, it is called an electronic exhaust cutout. A good quality on is this one from QTP. They come in many sizes for many dia. of pipes.

It would likely be 2.5" since that's the pipe size after the resonator.

You'll need to really look the install over though. The pipes take some nasty turns after the resonator. It'll be tough to find a straight section long enough to put the cutout in line.

Wait so you guys are saying there won't be enough room to insert this? If I can't fit it before the mufflers I might put it before the secondary cats!! Now THAT'S badass haha.

Are you positive our pipe sizes r 2.5"?

So exactly what are the benefits to this mod? Really I don't understand. I did a search on wha a butterfly valve was.

an electronic exhaust cutout makes you able to run through stock exhaust when the valve is closed, or a straight dump when open. Just route the exit of the dump away from any electrical lines, fuel lines, toward the floor, etc. It makes you able to run close to 0 backprssure which makes your turbos spool faster by taking a load of the turbo's impeller on the exhaust side. It like getting catless downpipes: it allows the turbos to spool faster and make more power because there is less restriction. Less backpressure is important in making an exhaust for forced induction cars.

Thanks dvpouldar! Yeah pretty much it's like getting straight pipes or test pipes except when I want to relax and not have my car be obnoxiously loud, I can shut off the open valve and have a free-flowing air stock exhaust.
