Question Does the G01 have brake wiping?

Does anyone know if the G01 has automatic brake wiping/drying? I've been poking through the manual and it recommends the following:

"When roads are wet, salted, or in heavy rain, gently press the brake pedal every few miles.

Ensure that this action does not endanger other traffic.

The heat generated during braking dries brake discs and brake pads and protects them against corrosion.

In this way braking efficiency will be available when you need it."

I was under the impression that all BMWs automated this process?

Seems like it does? Page 5

also found in the technical manual:

Function
Dry by applying brake

Description
Dries the friction surface of the brake disc by cyclically applying the brake pads in rain (no braking perceptible).

Yes, almost any modern BMW has in the last 10 years or longer.

I think BMW’s have this since about the E46 era.

Thanks - that is what I figured. Wonder why they have that text in the owner's manual then? Just covering their rears or perhaps in extreme wet conditions the auto drying is not as effective?

In any case, I'm glad the automatic system is in place. The Seattle area is not exactly know for dry conditions

Good to know. So you have not noticed any lack of response from the brakes after prolonged driving in the wet? Maybe a motorway trip for example?

This is actually what turned me off the Audi Allroad as a possible alternative to the X3. There were reports of the brakes not working well in very wet conditions if they had not been used for a while. Not only that, the car would reportedly move to one side under braking in those circumstances!

The M3 would have an obvious lag when you hit the brakes after motorway driving in the wet, the X3 is the same as all other cars I have driven in this respect - there might be a minor reduction in inital bite but the brakes actually feel as if they are working not the no mans land of nothing is happening when you first hit them in the rain.
