Ready to order, a question on packages

Time to upgrade my X3. I'm just going to spend the money and get the 40i, I love power

Going with Dk Graphite/Oyster, Premium package for heated wheel and nav, HK sound and wireless charging case.

My question is are the drivers assistance, parking or executive packages worth it? My thought process for the assistance stuff is, I've been driving long enough to use my mirrors and know how to park, so I don't need them.

For the executive package, digital cluster looks nice, but not needed, however park distance sensors are pretty invaluable. I can't believe these are not standard.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

If you are going for leather and premium then the executive pkg is a no brainer. It includes leather and the awesome 360 camera system. The cluster is also a big upgrade. I can't believe how many dealer cars I see spec'd with leather and the parking assistance pkg, when for almost no additional cost they could have added executive and gotten so much more.

One other thing to seriously consider is the adaptive suspension. I am still waiting to take delivery of mine so I can't comment from experience just yet, but it comes highly recommended by others around here.

Totally agree. Dealers don't know leather is a no-cost option if you order the Executive package. Also, after experience with the HUD, I would not buy another car without it

Get the Adaptive suspension, the best $700 you can spend IMHO vs ANY other options available.

I've told this story before and believe it's worth repeating. The added safety packages are no longer options in my mind. It's actually pretty disappointing that Honda has those features standard and they're upgrades in the BMW.

Anyway, as I was sitting in my hospital bed last November recovering from emergency surgery after being t-boned, I decided that I wanted to be seated higher and that my next BMW was going to have any and all safety features available. Though my kids weren't in the car, I can still see the glass shards scattered across the backseat and it makes me sick to my stomach. Any backseat passenger would have been even more seriously injured.

I think the six airbags that deployed in my F30 kept me alive but I don't think that DA or DA+ would have helped in that accident. That said, it's more the idea of having a proactive defense, I'm all for loading up a car with anything that makes it safer. I just don't think you can go wrong by adding them...the benefit far outweighs the cost, especially when you're building an executive M40i.

Good luck!

Check all boxes.

I would check all boxes relative to driver assistance packages. One of these systems just might save your life. I drive 2019 X3.

Just in case my memory failed me... if the dealer tells you no-cost leather don't come with Executive package, ask if it's available with Premium package instead... I got both packages last September and not 100% sure I memorize these things correctly since it's so long ago

Edit - by the way, we know there is at least one forum member whom bought a X3 off the dealer lot with both Premium and Executive packages, but with vinyl seats !!! It tells you how little dealers know about what to order, and some dealers probably don't know no-cost leather is available. Don't let this tragedy happens to you, and good luck!

P.S. I also agree with everyone here advocating getting ALL the safety features available. I did with all my cars and have zero regrets, considering that we are all human and can make mistakes, or misjudge on how to react to avoid accidents.

Even if you won't use the safety features, they probably need to be there if you care about resale in 4-5 years as all cars will have them st that point.

I was told having all the safety features also lower insurance rates, as a car that will stop itself if needed is less likely to have an accident.

Also having active cruise and lane keeping, has hugely helped my stress/road rage levels. I drive a lot of low traffic roads and like to use cruise control whenever possible and I get annoyed easily when I can't use it because I'm stuck behind someone that can't maintain their speed. Now with active cruise I just relax and wait for the passing opportunity. It's also great in heavy and stop and go traffic.

my suggestion is to get as many options as possible because....wait for it....resale value. our cars tank in value after 1 year and having it as loaded as possible will help reduce that loss in the long run in case you end up wanting to try something else (not because you won't like this car, you will love it, but because we all like to try something different eventually)

Epic colour choices! I wasn't looking for a car with all the driver assistance packages as I'm not into all that just yet. The other are just down to how many toys do you really want to pay for.

I soooo love the 21's. I have to stick with the 19's due to too much snow driving.

So I found one in stock I can get for 11.14% off MSRP(so far

Dk Graphite/oyster, drivers assistance, premium package. No HK system, wireless charging or adaptive suspension, but I think I can deal with that.

I'm going down there next week to see if I like it and get that % off to 13 if I can.

Not so sure I would agree with some comments suggesting loading up on options will help resale value. I guess technically your resale would be marginally higher than lightly optioned model, but it has always been my experience that options and packages depreciate horrendously.

I'm not gonna advise anyone to avoid safety related options (although I did skip DA+ because I felt I would never use any of it) but in general be careful what you add as you will lose almost the entire cost.

On the other hand, if you are leasing then fire away as BMW do not hit your residual for loading up on options :-). Take a look at Audi for example, the residual drops by 2 or 3 points if you order the Prestige trim!

I may have missed but where did you end up ordering from? I just got a call today from BMW NW and my car has arrived! I placed the order on the last Saturday in January. Brian

Adaptive on the M40i makes a BIG difference in ride quality. I'd wait to get one that has it. Also the HK system is worth it as well......totally.
