Give me few weeks to get over, but until then, help me to compare notes with yours
All four doors are like following, fitment challenge with trim and weird gap, is that for water draining? If not, then
(i should go to local dealers and do some compare and contrast there) Driver side door, (ignoring that weird feather thingy that got in the picture), Rear driver side, Is that an Alien's acid thingy running down the bottom corner of the door? Passenger side, Rear passenger side, Thanks much. |

I've noticed a bit of a gap like that on my rear passenger door although not to that large a degree. It wasn't as pronounced so I was just going to point it out when I bring it in for the first service appointment.

I just looked at mine. There corners look the same, I guess the holes are for water drainage in case water seeps in from the window. There are also gaps for the outside trims but maybe not quite as wide as yours.

Agreed, I did the same, kinda. Local dealer but they sourced mine from a different state. My anticipation somehow outweighed my worries

Thanks folks for helping me with comparisons.
I'll have the panel gaps checked and see if those gap(s) can be brought in little tighter (particularly at the driver side) during next service visit. And yes, so true. It's like that blind date syndrome. Or, was that like box of chocolate, you never know what you'll get. Oh, never mind... It's not even my daily driver anyway, i'll have my wife deal with it. |

My passenger front door has a similar issue. I don’t think it’s a drain since it doesn’t line up with the trim on the back door, it sticks out further on the bottom.

Not the best photo but mine appears to be about the same.

I had that yellow stuff on one of my doors and had to clean it off when I got home.

Checked mine this morning. I have the same holes at the inside corner of each door - but mine all look tidy/consistent.
The pic you sent earlier looks like rough or unpainted finish which may be a concern. |

Thanks folks. And what a difference a (good) night of sleep makes.
... and so i thought (maybe this whole X3 thing was all in my head)... Took kids to school and the damn panel gap came into my sight again... The rear doors perhaps but i thought about maybe using my high strength 3M double sided tapes (used for body mouldings) to use here to close the gaps at least for the front doors, but ... figured i'll just take the car to service dept to have them triage and fix (before my upcoming ceramic coating and paint film get applied). Will report back after following service is done, Repair Services: Trim or Moulding Diagnosis - Door trim moulding at edge has come off from door panel. Thanks much.
