Blacked out front grilles for X7
Common discussion topic here is the front grille, particularly the size. Many of us postulate that the X7 would look better with the grille blacked out. You could black out the outer chrome ring, the inner vertical slats, or just do the whole thing.
I'd love to see actual X7's with various body colors, and various blacked out grille versions, to see what the final result actually looks like. I see that IND-Distribution is now selling blacked out X7 grills. https://ind-distribution.com/product?sku=51138745730 For the G05, they had an option, where you could also paint the middle strip body color, to keep the grilles separate and avoid the "uni-grille". With the X7, it looks like the two grills are pushed up against each other even more, so there's hardly any center strip that you could paint, even if you wanted to. Here's the G05, including option to paint center strip. https://ind-distribution.com/product?sku=IND-G05-FG IND-Distribution will you be offering X7 options, such as blacking out only the slats, outer surround, and/or painting the center strip? |

No... working out details. And I'd like to see some initial owner reports, whether early release bugs pop up, and hopefully have BMW work out the seat manufacturing issues with Magna before I order. Maybe soon. Maybe 2020 model.

If someone is interested in having more custom options then we certainly can order the factory chrome grille and paint then by request as well.

Not the X7, but taking some of these pictures from the news story about the 7er LCI presentation at the Geneva Auto Show. Notice how BMW derived the 7er new big grille from the X7.
I find it interesting that BMW is showing the 7er with a blacked out grille. Some of the pics show the 7er next to the X7. You might be able to get an idea of what the X7 would look like with a blacked out grille. Full Geneva news story and more pictures here: https://www.7post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1590489# |

Yes it is the same finish as the front trim on the X7. In certain light it looks to have a black chrome finish.

also noticed that on the Ametrin colored X7 posted, they seem to have a matte chrome strip on the boot. or at least it appears less glossy to me. trying to decide if the stock strip needs to be addressed with a black grille or can be left glossy chrome.
stumbled across these screen shots of the rear |

Interesting, with the matte silver on the back. I think it's a nice alternative, to those who may want to do something other than the chrome, but not want to go black. If nothing else, something other than chrome for that 7-series bar across that back would probably be good, particularly with how chrome doesn't always age well unless you maintain it right every so often.

That's the cerium grey trim from the m50d M performance model. As with the G30 and the recently announced G20, we should see this trim on the mirrors and front grill when the M50i update arrives.

I talked to someone who has the cerium grey trim on there M550i and he said it was really hard to keep clean. He said it is very hard to get water spots out of the finish.I really am not a fan of it.I much prefer the black high gloss shadowline trim.

Yep,looks like BMW decided to add the cerium grey mirrors, lettering, tailight trim and badges to that X7 that has the black high gloss shadowline trim and black kidney grilles.I guess because it is an individual color, they decided to mismatch the trim.I think it would look much better with the black high gloss mirror caps, tailight trim and lettering.
It’s also an X7 M50d so all the trim should really be cerium grey. |
