Wireless charging issue

Got a new m5 comp a couple of days ago. Everything has been good except the wireless charging tray. I have an iPhone 8 plus and it will not charge. I've tried it with the case on, off, the phone (screen up) orientation changed back and fourth and I am getting nothing.

I am assuming, from a few threads I have read, that my iPhone 8+ is compatible with the wireless charger and I should only have to drop it onto the charger for it to work. Is there any settings on the car or phone I have to enable or change? We tested my wife's iPhone 8+ and hers did not charge either.

Check to be sure you turned the wireless tray on?
It is off by default if I recall correctly.

Where/how do I enable the charging tray? I went through all the menus and searched for a switch as well. The only option I saw regarding wireless charging was just to turn on or off an alert.

I don't think the charging tray itself can be enabled or disabled, just the notifications.

You should call the genius line tomorrow and speak to someone. It could be a problem with the charger or it may be a compatibility issue with the 8+. There is a size restriction even though the phone technically fits into that compartment. I hope that's not the problem!

I don't believe the iPhone 8 or 8+ has the ability to do wireless charging (at least my old phone didn't - that's why I gave it to my wife), you need to be on an iPhone X or X plus … the iPhone needs to be a glass back on it for wireless charging

I bought a new iPhone and the wireless charging is working. It was my old phone that was the issue, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I thought my old phone was a 8+, it turned out to be a 7+ (as my wife's was). My old phone was in a case and I just made an assumption. Anyhoo, there's that. Thanks to all that weighed in.

FYI, for my older iPhone 6 I bought the wireless charging case (BMW logo on it) and it worked great. The connector was getting wonky, but once the wireless charger case was connected I could get it to work reliably. Anyway, I have Xs now and charging works great.

Take a look at the mophie charging cases for iPhone 7. It will get you what you want until you upgrade.
