palo alto stoplight camera questions
for those familiar with palo alto,
i was on oregon expressway yesterday (the section that goes thru that residential area on either side), heading towards the 101 from downtown PA, when i got a yellow light. i should have stopped, but was pressed for time, and the light turned red when i was in the middle of the intersection. each of those intersections has about 3-4 cameras mounted in all directions. my question is, do they actually use those for enforcement/ticket issuance? I ask because i know some municipalities have cameras, but not all cameras are set up to do enforcement.. any advice would be helpful, thx

I drive that everyday to work... I was unaware that there were red light cameras there though. I haven't see any. They do have new ones up, at the intersection of 84 (dumbarton) and Willow Rd.

Cameras only care if you break the plane after the light turns red...then they need a clear pic of the driver and plates, if those don't work then you don't get a ticket...well that's what I've heard at least.

If they got you you would have seen the flash go off , usually front and rear. while they normally only ticket you for crossing the line after the red - they can get you gor 0.01 second of a violation.
also some companies that run these have been caught shortening the legth of the yellow so they can make more money.

if you think you were caught, i think it takes about two weeks for it to send you a picture + ticket of your infraction
