2017 Camero ZL1 vs 08 BMW 335i

Me and a friend are going to take our vehicles to a drag strip to race. What would the BMW need to beat the camero or would it not stand a chance with mods

Looks like the zl1 runs the quarter mile in 11.5 at 125 according to motor trend. There's no way a stock turbo car could keep up with that. My best was a 11.8 at 127 with the mods in my signature

Upgraded turbos, FBO, e50 custom tune, stage 2 bucketless lpfp and drag radials. If auto than xhp stage 3. All that to beat a stock zl1.

single turbo conversion...you have a better chance if you take it something with curves.

about ten thousand dollars. That's your needed mod.

11.8 with those upgraded turbos and mods is pretty slow. A stock turbo EWG N55 just ran a 11.6.

A stock turbo N54 on nitrous just broke into 10's a couple of weeks ago.

That said, it's not uncommon to see newer Vettes and such run 13's at the track, there are a lot of variables. But with the right setup you could surely handle a stock ZL1.

The ZL1 can be comparable to hellcats even though the hellcat has 60 more hp as the hellcat also weights 600lbs more. Theres no way a stock turbo 335i can beat it and even some upgraded turbo setups will barely keep. That being said 5.0s and 392s are ez for us.

OP, buy a ZL1. I surely would rather have a ZL1 over my 335is, at least a 2016+ model. As silly as it sounds, I just can't stand the gauges in the 2015 and earlier Camaros.

I am with you on that, the interiors have always been the biggest turn off.

These new ZL1's are much faster than the previous generation (580 vs 650HP). There's no way a 2017 ZLI will run a 13.6 lol.

Unless you have an upgraded setup pushing 500+WHP, you're going to get COOKED.

11.5 is what motortrend got, that means there is no possible way a human would get those numbers without hundreds of tries. Listen to Farah's podcast with Camisa, he basically says magazine numbers are unrealistic for a regular driver to get, especially if it's manual. I'd bet a 6 speed ZL1 would be struggling to run under 12s unless the driver really knew how to drive. 10-speed would probably be high 11s pretty consistently.

For a drag race would be drivers race, obviosly depends on the 335 mods. On the street the n54 would win. Map 6 custom 26 psi with e60 mix I know a guy who did take the hellcat. Also he's best time was 11.7 126 mph I believe.

Yeah a healthy N54 with healthy turbos and a proper tune and bolt ons should hang with a stock ZL1 if the drivers are solid.
