Looking for Cheapest Verified KDCAN Cable
What is everyone using today for a KDCAN cable?
What exactly do i need for a cable for a 2011 BMW 328? I see alot of different information in the threads. What is the cheapest US seller cable available?

You get what you pay for and you pay for what you get.
There was a time that this board recamended the 100 dollar one stop electronics cable. Now the 45 dollar Bimmergeeks cable it to expensive for peace of mind! Last edited by ctuna; 03-01-2019 at 08:10 PM.. |

It really depends on how much you're going to use the cable and how tech savvy you are.
A $20 ebay or amazon k+dcan cable will work just fine, but MAKE SURE you get one with the green motherboard inside. The white board cables will eventually overheat and burn out. Been verified on other forums that green board cables are the most reliable. Also quick tip to save ~1 hour of frustration: After installing drivers, plug the cable to your laptop, go into device manager, find the cable and set the port to COM1. Inpa only recognizes com1 unless you change some settings

I guess it depends on your goals. On my E85 I used a cheep cable for years, coding and flashing. I did end up installing a switch to link pin 7 and 8. It had a fake FTDI chip so I had to be careful with Windows and driver updates. Real FTDI drivers don't work with the fake chip. Nothing spectacular, cable just stops working.
The same cable was useless for any advanced work on my E89 so I changed up. The eBay cables will probably work on your E90 for coding but I would not update any software with it. The software bug in Ediabas will brick your TCU and a few other modules if you attempt flashing them. Choice is yours to make. |

If you just want to do diagnostic then any cable is fine. If you are doing programming or coding, DO NOT USE THE CHEAP CABLE, use the Bimmergeeks one. I used the cheap cable from Amazon and it wouldn't update my GM transmission, kept giving an error. My car was undriveable for 5 days until the Bimmergeeks cable which fixed it on the first try.

Like others have said, if you are coding get the bimmer geeks. My green board cable sometimes is not recognized by my computer I have to reset the computer. Fine for diagnostics only

Years ago finding a good cable was a crap shoot. You could spend anything between 30-100 bucks for the same unverified POS. Software was also much harder to get. I probably downloaded a dozen INPA packages from turrents and none of them worked correctly or ran on anything other than Windows XP. Today life is so much easier, trail has been firmly blazed and beat down by those before you. For the price of a tank gas, Pick up the BimmerGeeks cable download the software they make available and move on. |

The proper firmware makes it as dependable as an ICOM. |

does that mean you can avoid the must have and icom
for most bus module programming? I don't get this issue as all the most bus modules except the L7 amp have serial lines. The other thing I have read is that the ICOM cables have some buffer memory where as K/D cans don't. |

What do you mean by E car . Al the e series cars going back
to I don't know when. Looks like you have an F car. If you want to buy something with canned coding look at the Bimmergeeks pro tool . It also looks like this will be more powerful shortly. By canned coding I mean there is stuff it already does that does not require any computer knowledge on your part. If you want something really complete the Inpa suite and Ista D is the way to go if you are not adverse to working with your computer and learning new stuff. |

I am just trying to diagnose the cause of my TPMS failure on my e90. And if its too hard to figure out, then the ability to code it out and disconnect the main module. Can that be done with a canned program?
