Rear Badges Placement?

Might have been discussed already, but I noticed some people had the "X3" and "M40i" badges on top of the rear lights vs. the bottom.

Is this location specific?

I believe BMW changed it about midway through the 2018 models to be on the bottom portion.

The change happened sometime in spring 2018, I think.

I believe that they lowered them in order to be compliant with ADA workplace regulations. The older upper location was not accessible to wheelchair-bound workers so they moved them to the new location.

The change was between July and August, it was about a month before they released the engine with GPF and the M sport diff became available.

The change happened in Spring 2018 between March and April. There was a March ‘18 build on the dealer lot at the time I was there, and the badges were up above. The one I bought has an April 2018 build date, and the badges are down lower. USA.

I have a Feb 2018 at top... Don't like them down low

Nice to see X3M and X4M have them back at top where they belong

Mine both came at the bottom. I removed the "XDrive 30i" badge on the left and retained the right "X3" badge. Still looks boss to me

Ditto. They look just wrong low down, as they are not in the middle of the eyeline on the back of a vehicle. Just saying...

Badge placement thread! The badges were lowered to further delineate M/M-Competition from M-Performance. I guess 150HP+, quad exhaust and a rear diffuser with a fat ass was not enough. I prefer them up top but this is clearly another case of those who know, know and those that don't know, don't care.

Funny thing is, all these bits and pieces that will be available "exclusively" to the upcoming M variants will be easily interchangeable with our G01s. Painted rear M diffuser would look mighty juicy on the X3...but the badges?

I'm with you on this one, badge location makes zero difference to me either way! To each their own I guess...
