7:50 is quite impressive, even with Cup tires.

On the other hand: Price as tested € 120,000

Best regards, south

Wow, that's fast. This thread will surely re-ignite the tire compound and ring lap times debate though...

The real questions are:

1. What is the 6MT 991S time?
2. Why is Sportauto not testing a DCT M3? It's been around for months, and the 911S is not even out yet.

I think I gave the possible answer to that one. Oh dear, sorry guys that's was more speculation of mine.

The rubber will make a difference, possibly 3~5 seconds, the rest is all car.

The other interesting thing was the 0-100km/h and the 0-200km/h times, 4.4s and 14.9s, all within striking distance of the new M3. So we can expect a battle royal when both 997S PDK and M3 M-DCT meet up on the next M5Board video.

Is there someone on here saying R-compounds are not an advantage?

BMW used transmission by texas junkyards

If you want a good selection id try a parts locator. One place that can find you a good short or long block is "Texas Salvage Yards".

Around the ring? 3-5 seconds, Don't you think that is a bit conservative?

US Porsche club mag found the PSC's to be easily 2 seconds faster a lap than a performance street tire, around the 2.2 mile Laguna Seca circuit.

A set of R-compounds is easily worth more than 3-5 seconds around the huge nurburgring.

The facelift has done 7:50 without cup tires. Sport Auto said the tires were worth 8 seconds. I just really want to know the 0-160 km/h time. That 0-200 is pretty darn good.

Can't wait for US mags to get a hold of it. Maybe low 12's?

OK, I say 3~5 seconds and SportAuto say around 8 seconds, maybe I was a little conservative. It still means that the new 997SMk2 is as good as the CSL which was itself an amazing machine.

Well, you are already beginning to understand what I meant when you responded to Footie after me. People have different opinions on how much of an advantage the tires can really provide, and that's been debated often in the past without any kind of resolution.

Porsche, Rohrl

Check out the facelift 997S manual numbers from AutoZeitung:

(R8 - Z06 - 997s)

0-100: 4.4s - 4.4s - 4.4s
0-200: 15.2s - 13.0s - 14.5s
Top-Speed: 301kph - 320 - 302
100-0: 33.6m - 33.9 - 32.8
Timed lap: 1.40,2 - 1.39,4 - 1.39,1
Weight: 1619kg - 1440 - 1427

The thing is fast, 14.5 0-200 is moving.

I believe that the Sportauto test was with CUP tires, however, PAG claims a 7.50 without CUP tires, but with the magician Rohrl at the helm.

Key design element. I'm not one to go Lotus-light (be nice for tracks) but more is less, clearly.

I think Porsche quotes dry weights. The current 997S comes in at just a hair under 3300 pounds full of fluids, and it wouldn't surprise me if the update comes in a bit over that, even with the slightly lighter engine and transaxle.
