Seems to me like a good config and a great price. Not sure what the issue is unless you are really worried about your color choice.

For what it's worth, Glacier Silver wasn't even on my radar and for a few moments I thought I was possibly settling when I bought mine but as it turns out I love the color more each day.

It's just that i'm in Raleigh, NC area, and car is in St Louis MO, dealership.

And i need to ship the car, contemplating between open and closed containers...

This is crazy...

I would say that your current deal is not bad. Based on what I paid for something quite similar (except no Driving Assistance Plus Package), I think that $55,500 to $56,000 was feasible if you walked out of the dealership and let them call you. But my real question is this: are you planning to purchase extended warranty and prepaid maintenance? If you are, you should have negotiated the price of the entire package. Once you have the car, you will have zero leverage with respect to extended warranty and prepaid maintenance. If you can revisit your negotiation, do it. There are savings to be had on extended warranty and prepaid maintenance.

DOH, i did screw this one up...

I have never purchased (and this isn't my first bmw or new car purchase) an extended service warranty and/or prepaid maintenance.

However i was considering CarMax and for sure their MaxCare if i went down that route.

Shoot... i know how costly bmw repairs can be, god knows, i've been there and probably will as long as i own the m5 and m3. But i do have very trusting indy shop in Raleigh area, bimmer performance center, that i got to know the crew and service adviser there, so at least i have that.

But i will bring up what you said tomorrow.

All i did is put deposit, and fill out the finance papers for now.

Thanks much.

Is the dealer shipping it for you and responsible for any damage during shipment, or are you? If I was in your shoes, I'd pick the car up myself and drive it from St. Louis to Raleigh.

Yes, dealer is shipping but if closed container, i will have to pay that.

And yes, dealer will be responsible for walk around inspection, and was told any issue, damage during transport will be covered by the transportation company. I think this is pretty standard. I just shipped 3 cars from Boise, Idaho to Raleigh, NC area, and that was done all in open containers. Cars do get dirty, but i had no physical damages or dings. I did request that the m3 and m5 to be sit bottom behind the front of the truck to avoid any debris, elements.

As for driving back, urgh....

Nice configuration and Just Do It!

Since you are from North Carolina, you should really look into doing the Performance Center Delivery at the factory in Spartanburg.

Well, i didn't get any callback. I think the Hendrick BMW, based on how many of these they have on their lot, and they must have huge operating overheads (with all those large showroom, employees, etc.), perhaps not that motivated to make the deal below what i walked out last night with $61,820 (for adjusted price, of same optioned car). Screw it...

Actually during financing call earlier today this extended warranty came up. Obviously now it's after thought on my part, after purchase price has been set. So, as you said, 0 leverage i think.

Reading through relevant discussions in this forum about extended service warranty and prepaid maintenance, i think i'm going to skip the latter.

But the warranty wise, BMW factory is,

7 years/75K miles (which ever comes first), for $5500, which gives me +25K miles coverage, not +75K miles on top of base bumper to bumper warranty

Or, dealer provided, which is underwritten by this place called Premier Dealer Services. I did some searching and seems legit place and most BMW folks seem to be happen with it.

What i was quoted for that is,

unlimited time/100,000 miles, for $3,200 (perhaps i can negotiate this price to say $3K even), with $100 deductible (i was told $50 deductible is not available apparently)

I'm reading through the fine prints obviously, but over the phone i was told it's better than BMW's version, and is bumper to bumper (we'll see).

The way i'll own this car, we keep cars forever. Since this will be driven by my wife, her car we bought back in 2002, Honda Odyssey, 155,000 miles. We tend to hang on to cars. Same for our other 2 cars.

Thanks much.

Of course it's better. Better for the dealer selling it. I would never buy a third party warranty. Just another group in the conversation about what gets paid and how much. Not to mention the deductible. Then what happens when you bring it in and they don't find anything? One deductible gone. Then bring it in again and they can't replicate. Take the money and put it in an investment.

I hear you, loud and clear.

I have never bought one before with any of our 3 cars now.

But something tells me, i may need one this time around.

I plan to keep this car for longest as possible, for instance wife's current Odyssey is 2002, and have 155,000 miles on it, we did all sorts of crazy travels with it.

So, if i can add +50,000 miles coverage to get to 100,000 miles, and have "unlimited" years (and not some 7 or so years to use it or loose it) with it, and if i can somehow bargain for say $2900'ish, then i think i'll take it. As a peace of mind, if nothing else. I'm not investing savey person, so i don't know what a $2900 invested over say 10 years will yield. But i would think more than $2900 you start with, by say end of 4 years when the mfg warranty expires.

Funny thing is, i buy extended warranty on home appliances i buy from Costco, they offer fantastic coverage's.

That route looks like the sort of thing I'd plot out for the family summer holiday (sorry, vacation). You sure you don't want to drive it?
You'd only have another 3-400 miles left to hit your running in mark.

15% off a new M40i sounds like a pretty good bit of business to me, and your spec looks pretty awesome.

Thanks.

I would have liked to do that road trip.

Thing is, i'm now at that time of year, where we are in crunch weeks for few projects including doing focal point reviews, so i'm grounded for at least 4 weeks.

Not to mention, lost day and half, doing this (stupid) car stuffs rather than actually working...

Just to have to hope that there's no tracking service for the closed container transport then - otherwise there's another day and half lost online to watching it travel over to you.

For anyone that finds this any useful, even if as a basis/baseline, $2,900 was non-starter, and i just gave in at $3,102 for unlimited/100,000 miles, top-est tier plan (of course, exclusions apply, but i'm done with this haggling).

I would never purchase a car color I was not 100% sure of. I kind of did one time because i did not see the actual color, but it was black, and i know what black looks like. IMO when you walk out and see your car, you want to be like uha, thats my baby.

But the deal sounds pretty good. The options seem awesome. Either way i hope you get one, and welcome to the club
