Need some advise/help..please. CDV and Rattles

Finally managed to get my car into the dealer this week to check out the jerky gearchange and having sat in with a mechanic on a road test, he said it was fine and it felt fine to me too [still a bit jerky, but acceptable, but that could be because I was a passenger. I find when you are driving you are much more sensitive to the behaviour of the car and the jerkyness.] He explained that the 3 has a self adjusting clutch and that running cold, it will adjust and maybe jerky, but should be fine as it warms up. Is this right ? Funny thing was, he drives the same car I had before the 3series...Celica 190, and we were both saying how great Toyota gearboxes are....when i managed to take off his corporate hat...the did say the BMW changes were very poor and had plenty of complaints.

After some days of thinking about changing the car, i've have decided to stick for the moment. Been reading these forums, it seems removing or replacing the CDV with a modified one is the way to go for the chaps in the US. Has anyone done this in the UK, does it really make a difference ? I plan to do this, but not really confident in doing it myself, can anyone recommend a garage in the South West or a helping hand Also, i been getting some annoying rattles and i've managed to trace them back to the pilar/piece of tirm holding the seat belts.....make a twanging noise over bumps. Does anyone how to remove this so I can stop the noise ? I've nudged them a bit and it's ok for the moment, but i am sure it will come back.

Other than these issues, I like the car, I have to admit it's not the best car I've had but it's growing on me. Another shocking thing is the value of these cars have plumented...bought for 26k about 9 month ago...now only with 19k. When it was new it was 32k...shocking i though bmw where suppose to hold there value.

I removed the cdv on my e46 but I'm not 100% sure the e9x has one - my gearbox is fine so I haven't looked. Easy job for any garage if you get a 'hollowed out" cdv to replace it with.

I think it did but it may have been 'auto-suggestion'....
