BPMSport ECU Tune Review

So...I have an Xdrive 30i w/ the Dynamic Handling PKg. Stock - great ride...good power. I was pretty happy and content with it to be honest. After the BPM tune it is pretty impressive....

- In "adaptive mode" it pulls like crazy....you literally feel the 305HP/358TQ for sure
- I've put it in "Sport indivudual" (ecu in sport plus) but I actually like it better in "adaptive."
- When I'm in "adaptive" and I want a super aggressive 'overtake' I just slam the shifter closer to me and get into "sport" mode for the tranny. It holds the gear perfectly and i can cruise effortlessly through traffic. It was previously questionable (when in stock form) but now it gives me all the confidence to do what I want to do.
- On the freeway I leave it in "adaptive" and still get all the 65mph to 85mph overtaking pulls with no issue. It used to taper off at 4900rpm....now it just pulls all the way to 5900. Love it. Way more confidence on the freeways for sure.
- Cruising normally on city streets is effortless. What you used to do in 4th you can do better in 5th. It's that good. However I do step-down to engage the transmission to overtake.
- It's SMOOTH. I was skeptical at first...but when it adapted fully after a day...wow. VERY impressed with the power delivery.
- I'm always in "adaptive" but slap the shifter to the left when I want to get frisky
- The "pull" is amazing. The torque increase is impressive. I Highly recommend it.
- I raced a 2018 X5M recently.....they were shocked that I kept up for the first 200 FT
- The best thing I like about it - the power matches the suspension of my 30i perfectly. delivery is smooth, letting off the accelerator is smooth too.
- BPM Sport. Ask for Mike Benvo. Legit.

Benvo is legit. I'm either going with Dinan or BPM on my M40i when it comes in. Thanks for the review.

You must go 0-60 in a little over 4 seconds then to keep up with an X5M

You should post a 0-60 vid or get a dragy to show other owners how quick it is!

I kept up with the X5M for a bit (more like 200ft).....enough for him to wonder I'm sure he was expecting to smoke me outright.

Vids and 0-60 times aren't things I usually focus on - I never do both in everyday traffic conditions. I'd love to film how much faster it is overtaking cars...but well, that would be just stupid and dangerous

LOL - I have a dash cam with GPS to track location and speed. Most of the time, I'm afraid to see the recorded footage showing how I passed other cars driving like a mad man

Thanks for sharing. I’ve considered getting one of these for years but never really felt the absolute need. The good thing is these have been out since 2012 and apparently have proven to be safe and reliable on the engine. I suppose I’m losing my need for speed as I get older but I think I’d like to try one out. What was your price? Did you install it yourself?

I agree with you. Each time I get a new car I'm like....."well, do I really need a tune?" But to your point - these tunes are absolutely safe. I personally haven't heard of an issue thus far. I didn't install myself, I went to their office and did it on the spot. But like all other tunes they do, they can send you a cable and remotely install it for you.

You won't be seeing anything from Dinan for this engine.

I just ordered my dinan tune for the b46 engine. I dont want to damage my warranty for the moment.

Going to measure HP/TQ with and OBD2 and torque app for before and after using same fuel (93 Oct).

My previous car was an F30 with the N20 engine and i tried some piggybags (JB4, Racechip Ultimate, etc). At the end i was running the dinantronics sports and for daily driving it was enough.

Nice! Let us know how that goes! Personally I've just always liked ECU tunes - they're always the smoothest when it comes to power delivery.

Just so you know - I've had the BPMSport tune in all my previous M3's and M4. Never an issue, no dealer problems, no fault codes. And I drive hard. Its a legit tune and can be reversed easily. I'd call Mike at BMSport and talk to him about it at the very least and see how knowledgeable he is. Hope you're 93 OCT works out!

Well......It's a 30i, so no the exhaust note does not change - but you can hear the turbos whine a little louder that's for sure Which is kinda nice actually Call BPM Sport and ask for Mike Benvo. He's awesome. He can remotely tune your car. Very easy and completely safe

SR03, when you say you keep it in "adaptive" mode, what do you mean exactly? I just have sport, comfort and eco on mine. Then there are the individual and plus modes for each.

If you order your car with adaptive suspension, there is an additional mode. Adaptive.

The 30i engine is the same one as the X1, the turbo 4? Weird how BMW names their vehicles.

Has your fuel mileage improved since this tune?
