Tesla records videos from accidents.

I heard the Tesla is now incorporating saving video recordings from their external cameras when an accident occurs..
That would be a sweet feature. Wonder if there's a "suggestion box" for BMW?

Spend 60$ and get a dashcam.

In fact there is one on sale right now, there is 20$ coupon: NA2NX9AR

I would definitely pay for this feature to be integrated into iDrive.

I don't really want to deal with hard-wiring a dashcam alongside my radar detector and having two devices suctioned to my windscreen. And even if I do that what about the rear? I already have cameras front and rear, lets put them to more use!*

*as long as the video is stored locally and I have complete control over it. No cloud storage BS.

I helped my next door neighbor get this going when they first pushed out the OTA update that enabled it. The car didn't like how his mac formatted the flash drive.

The video quality isn't that great. My actual dash cam's video is much better. There's a fair amount of room behind the rear view mirror next to the headlight camera housing. I also have a radar detector and I barely notice the dash cam.

I've actually got one of this model in another car. Bought it on a whim. It's amazing what you can get for the price, the video is crystal clear.

A well integrated solution with the already existing cameras and all other data and sensors would be great! Not sure if the kafas3 stereo camera got a nice human visible video stream, but the front pano camera should be good enough. And the radar sensor know when sh*t is about to happen, and can feed that data to a flash disk as well. With all other three cameras as well.

And as already said, locally stored and managed. Like Cadillac done already.

Our cars already have cameras front and rear from the factory, so surely coding them to record would make the most sense.

Knowing Tesla, if the car was under 'auto-pilot' when it crashed the video files would inexplicably become corrupted...
