Dutch X3 Delivered!
Finally, after 4 months of waiting it's here. Our X3 xDrive 20i M-Sport! This car was a diplomatic order, so there were no packages. These were the options we chose:
-Dark Graphite / Sophisto Gray -Vernasca Cognac and Fineline Cove interior trim -Sensatec Dashboard -Pano roof -Navigation Professional -Park Assist Plus -Adaptive LED Headlights -Comfort Access -Active Cruise Control -Galvanic embellishments for controls -Seat heating front and rear -Heated steering wheel -Lumbar Support for front seats -Wireless Charging With Enhanced Bluetooth -Adjustable backrest rear seats -HiFi Speaker Upgrade -Multifunctional Instrument Cluster -Acoustic Glass (this car is DEAD quiet at 100km/h!) Pretty sure that covers it. I love it! Right now it does have 18" winters on it (€1800 for official BMW winters, not bad!) standard summer wheels are 698M style 19". Here are some pictures, will take some more though because these aren't very good. Was too excited to pick it up! it had about 35 km on it at delivery. I have to admit though, was surprised that average fuel consumption displayed by idrive at delivery was 14.3 liters per 100 km (16.5 MPG) I wonder what happened for it to be that way? I hope they didn't race it at the port Anyways, very happy and impressed with the car so far. Very comfortable and luxurious. The noise isolation really perfects it. It's even quieter than I thought. -M

Same as my interior. Have fun stroking the textured matte wood. I see you've got satin aluminium or chrome window surrounds. Always fascinated to see BMWs fitted with those in the Netherlands, Belgium and Northern France when I drive through. In the UK the M Sports get the black shadowline surrounds as default and sometimes you can't change them due to market preference, but I think yours look great! Quite jealous of those. Enjoy!

Very nice spec!
The mpg goes down when the engine is idling at standstill, so that plus all the cold starts and very short journeys will be the reason. What is a “diplomatic” order? |

VERY nice spec!!! congrats! We can't have the MSport wheels here in the U.S. unless it's an M40i....ANNOYING. If you ever decide to tune that thing it will be a beast. I only have the 30i petrol and it's pretty amazing.

Hi,
Car looks very nice. I think it’s the first one that I have seen with 18” wheels fitted - they sure look small! It will look even better one you get the summer wheels and tyres fitted. I see you have Active Cruise Control but could not see the button for steering assist on the steering wheel buttons - does it not have this option on your car? Cheers Steve |

That sounds like a great deal! With that diplomatic status, I’d be changing cars every year!
I assume that you’re allowed to sell the car privately, right? You could probably quite easily sell after about 1 year for a same or more than what you’ve paid. Congrats on the new car!! |

Well, with diplomatic status come special license plates: you can sell it to another diplomat if you want, but if you want to put it back to "regular" license plates like everyone else in the country, you have to pay back the taxes on the current value of the car to the government. So selling for a profit wouldn't really work

Congrats! Finally!
Quite a kms before delivery I would say. Consumption will settle with break-in, like it was mentioned already. It's currently 9,6 on mine, but when driven mostly in city it's more like 10 something. You can sell for profit, but in another country. There may be some culprits to do that, but it's definitively doable. Happy driving |

Is it the same hardware in the 20i engine as in the 30i engine? If true, I would look forward to a nice flash tune.. :-) They must have raced it prior to the delivery. Mine had 17km on the clock, which I thought was quite a lot. :-) Regarding the consumption, I did reset mine just when taking delivery. Then I'll know with my driving style how much has been used .. |

The 20i ad 30i have the same engine. Taking it to a good Chip Tuner will give you this: 184 HP to 252 HP ! 290 NM to 375 NM !!

There are a lot of options for chiptuning. And everybody has a different "opinion".. But the "best" way is to alter the standard software on the standard ECU. Downside is that the dealer/garage will see/notice the tuning and they can make a fuss about warranty... I was interested in the way Ventura Tuning will tune this car. They use an external ECU (NOT A POWERBOX) on which they program new software, which runs parallel/alongside of the standard software. This ECU is connected with 8 + 2 plugs, and is removable. So if you need to visit the dealer, remove the External ECU and the car is standard again. Really like that option. Especially as I'm going to lease the car, so besides the warranty I can get into trouble with the leasecompany. Ventura even provides a service that they take over the Motor warranty. Sort of an insurance. At the same time they make the comment, that in 10 years they encounterd 1 small defect on a Diesel injector.. https://www.venturatuning.nl/chiptun...ning-2017.html They've mailed me last week, that they have a discount now on the X3. € 595, instead of the standard € 795... Still considering doing this when I get the X3. Just need to think about the 2 downsides: - how difficult it would be removing the External ECU and reconnecting it - what to do if I get into an accident, and won't have the possibility of removing the ECU That extra power though....

Same here! I've talked to different dealers about this. One of them (De Beier, great dealer btw) said they never recommend any chiptuning at all anymore. They can always read out if there was any chiptuning because they simple read numbers that are way higher then standard (so your f.... anyway) I've also talked to another dealer who recommended me also to Ventura... they said lots of their customers went there with no problems at all... As my car is also a lease car I'm in doubt what to do. (btw. 595,00 was also the 'deal' I got half a year ago) |

Let me know if you will be doing this!
I will do the same..! Another option, for me, is asking my dealer for an original AC Schnitzer tuning. Apparently my dealer (De Maassche in Echt) is an official importer of AC Schnitzer.. So will be asking this when picking up my car..
