Front plate in CT

The dealership had the decency to not drill my front bumper to install the front plate bracket.

I know we're supposed to have a front plate in CT but I get the impression it's not really enforced, like a lot of the other shit you see on the roads here - duct tape windows and bumpers, missing headlights, etc...

So what say you CT drivers - front plate yea or nay?

I was registered in Norwalk and circulated my Porsche in Greenwich, Stamford... got a ticket. I was parked in Port Chester and got a ticket. All parked. So I'm going to tell you to do yourself a favor and get the front plate on there. Done with the BS lol. BTW I bought a Carbonio that quick-mounts to your front center grill, love it.

This is what I currently have on my M2C:

super easy to install. literally takes 10 seconds to remove.

I ended up going with the sto-n-sho. The mount is on the bumper, but I haven't drilled it yet (and may not bother) the plate just rides around in the car. Given how many "no front plate" cars and trucks I see in town, and how many times I've driven past cops who clearly don't care about my lack of plate, I figure i'm fine. if I do get stopped I'll go for the old "oh sorry officer, I took it off to wash it and forgot to reinstall it. Mind if I put it back now"

Meter maids (sorry to be so sexist - parking enforcement officers) are the main problem, and it will vary by locality, time of day, and what part of town you park in. I'd recommend the US Millworks with the quick release - this lets you actually install the plate in your tow hook spot very easily when you park downtown, and the rest of the time it rides around in the trunk for that 'oh, I forgot to put it back on' line (you need the QR feature, otherwise it is too much dis-assembly to put it on/off). The Millworks is built like a tank - hasn't ever come loose or shifted, even through bad winters. FWIW, have not been stopped so haven't had to use it in 6 years, but I do put it on if we are going to predatory cities (Auburn) or for trips down near the city.

In MA, I can just tell the RMV I lost the plate (online), and I get a form to keep in my car for a lost plate. I do it about twice a year, it's $10 per plate. The one time I got a ticket while parked, I emailed in the form and the ticket was dropped.

I looked in CT, and without a police report it looks to be $25.

In MA, it's like 6+ weeks until you get the replacement plate, but the form to keep in your car for missing a plate doesn't expire until your registration date (which can be many months away in most cases).

I also have my plate with carbonio mount in my trunk as a backup ("I took the car through a car wash and forgot to put back on?")

Never had a problem in eight years in CT without a front plate.

The law/regulation states that it must be "displayed," not that it needs to be screwed into your front bumper. So, I keep my second plate in my glovebox, and when I park in a public place, I just put it on my dash to "display" it. Problem solved, although a super picky parking cop could still give me a ticket, I suppose. Still, it's never happened.

Legal language from the CT state Legislature:

" ... the law now requires only that any vehicle for which the DMV issues two plates must DISPLAY both of them."
