Confort access not working well
The comfort access is not always working to lock the car. Kind of frustrating. I'm assuming it's the grime and the water that causes this malfunction? Any solution to this?

Make sure your smartphone and FOB are not in the same pocket. Hope this helps.

Here's what works for my X3 and two other Toyota's:
Grip with full contact with the inside of the car handle with your bare hand to unlock, give it a second if needed. Similarly, full contact using your finger with the grooved area on the car handle to lock. The responsiveness of the car may reduce if someone has very dry skin in Winter (I.e. skin less conductive). Gloved hand won't work unless your gloves are touch screen compatible. Hope this helps. |

Mine had problem once so far, after using fob to unlock/lock then it worked well again. I also had camera error once, not repeatable either. I think with the big amount of electronics onboard, there will be glitches here and there, and same for other models and brands.

I've had problems with it, too. Sometimes if I touch or grab the handle to unlock it, it re-locks the door. It'll either work again or I need to unlock from the fob. Same thing happens with locking. Maybe works first time, maybe not. Maybe 2nd time, maybe not.
Fob is never anywhere near my phone. I had comfort on my last car (435 GC) and my wife has had it on several X5s and the feature on those cars never did any of this. It just worked. |

My phone is never in the same pocket as the key fob, I'll double check to make sure of this. Also I can unlock easily even with leather gloves. To lock is another story, even if I leave my finger on the ribbed part for 3 seconds it won't lock... but unlocking always works.

I just realized, thanks to your post, that my North Face gloves I have been wearing this winter have the e-tip on them. It may be why I haven't had any issues with locking.

Our 2018 440GC worked perfectly, as did our 2015 X3 + 328. It's just this 2019 that seems to be fickle. |
