BMW ADVANCED car eye 2.0 dash cams

Had these fitted by bmw ready for collection day
Not too impressed with them compared to the blackvue from my previous rangerover, should of just had that fitted .The app for iPhone does little and I can’t download to iPhone even though it says it has been .

The quality are miles apart see attached images ,has any 1 purchased these are you impressed with them .
Im considering taking them out and have front and rear blackvue fitted

I’ve fitted the blackvue in the lorry I drive daily this image was taken today as the van stopped for no reason

Crikey the picture from the BMW one does not look good, especially for £450 odd fitted!

I’m really happy with my Viofo A129 Duo for £120!

Yes that's quite a poor resolution, I also thought they looked a tad chunky. Do you have a shot of it fitted please, is it hidden under the rear view?

I'd say all aftermarket versions will be superior.

If that pic is a fair representation of the actual picture quality, I would say it’s appalling, you can’t even read the number plate on that van which is a couple of feet away and stationary!

Are you sure there aren’t any quality/resolution settings in the menu’s? On the Viofo you can change both the resolution and the bitrate between high & low.

Also they’ve fitted it so the rearview mirror housing is in shot!

No settings for picture adjustment at all also as it’s quite a big camera I asked them to mount it up in that corner out of the way and not under the mirror

Just found another post on google saying it’s a poor phone app and if you want to save images you need to download from the SD card so I will try tomorrow and see if the videos are any better

In case anyone's interested, here's a video covering five different dashcams (the BMW one is not among these, though):

There are periodic side-by-side shots, and those are useful.

There's no one camera that works well under all conditions. :-(

Gary, out of curiosity... did you check if there's a plastic film on the lens? I read somewhere someone giving the hint of removing a protective plastic film from the lens otherwise it would look blurry/low res.

All the dash cam on Amazon list the performance spec. How is the BMW one stacking up against generics?

Anyhow, at least there is the official BMW roundel on the camera... it also seems to be bigger than many dash cam too! :

The user ability is poor as with the above image ,I’ve been in touch with dealership and they want me to take car inso they can have a look but to be honest I’ve been in touch with blackview who installed my last 1 and they are willing to remove the bmw kit and fit front and back with power magic pro which is required for parking mode .

Then I might just eBay the bmw kit

Very poor quality for BMW.
I've fitted my X3 with a Viofo A119 and it's not on the best resolution, and the image quality is far superior. See attached:

Update —

All removed and replaced with 750s blackview cams now and I’ve listed them on eBay hoping to get some money back , I could try and argue with dealership but life’s too short .
Won’t do that again
What was I thinking , now I can relax knowing the images will be crystal clear

We all have mad moments now and then, at least it wasn’t too much trouble to sort, and you’ve learnt the lesson for anyone else thinking of buying it!

Good choice TBF, could make a big difference should you ever need the footage for real.
