BMW Connecteddrive app - trying to send directions to my car

I just paid the $50.00 for the Connecteddrive service and downloaded the APP to my android. I am able to lock and unlock the doors etc but trying to send directions to my navigation is not working - any ideas?

Sometimes it freaks out. Don't know why.

When I worked as a BMW Genius I found that a hard restart of the phone often solved a multitude of problems. Are you able to send directions from the ConnectedDrive Portal?

You might also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

I find the app pretty poor. Does t work well for me at all.

Don't hesitate to get the BMW Genius at the dealer involved. I had the same issue and they were able to get me sorted in a few minutes with a system configuration fix. I agree that the app could use some improvement but I send directions to mine all the time; speeds up using the nav system for certain. It is a very useful tool. Good luck.

went to local dealer and they got this to work but ONLY if i'm plugged in on the USB to my phone. Is that how it's SUPPOSED to work? Why wont it do it via bluetooth connection? The other features seem to work. Any ideas if this is correct? I'm happy it's working now just surprised it has to be hard-wired to the phone.

It should work through bluetooth. Mine does, and it's a 2014.

What happens when you go to ConnectedDrive—>Messages on the car's iDrive? After a couple of seconds it should have a message with the address. My 2015 M235i never starts navigating automatically, but 100% of the time the address will be in the messages section.

when not hard-wired it will show it sent to car from app but when i got to connected drive and then messages all i see are the text messages from my phone to other people - NO navigatioin messages show up. But when I plug it in it will work - go figure?

I had this problem forever. Finally, dealer determined that there was a sim card fault stored for the TCB. After the cleared the fault and reprogrammed my car, everything works perfectly and I can receive locations wirelessly.

Trick to seeing if you have the same problem. If BMW Assist/SOS cant send you locations, then this is the problem. Dealer knew it was fixed when locations sent by BMW Assist to the vehicle came through

My Nav refuses to find my house or navigate home. I live on a gated community but my street is on the 2018 map upgrade

In Google Maps, once you select a location to navigate to, below the directions link you see 4 other links, one is "Send to Your Phone". Click on that. A dialogue box will open up. At the bottom of the that box is a link that says "Learn More". Click on that and it will give you directions on how to add your car.

Here is an example, selected for you in BC:

Will BMW update the iDrive to include Android Auto for 2016 M235s? I just updated the iDrive and it removed the Android, its now Apple only (TB-001.046.032), not that I had Android Auto functionality anyway...

Hi team,

I would like to share this DIY solution, if you are unable to receive any destination message from my BMW app;

Go to your vehicle> my vehicle> iDrive settings> getting started> paired with my phone via Bluetooth> tried to send destinations message to my car. Message received OK.

Then disconnected your phone’ Bluetooth to ensure it’s able to send the message (via 4G/ LTE)

— resent message, and finally message was received from my car!!

Finally, dealer determined that there was a sim card fault stored for the TCB. After the cleared the fault and reprogrammed my car, everything works perfectly and I can receive locations wirelessly. Trick to seeing if you have the same problem. If BMW Assist/SOS cant send you locations, then this is the problem. Dealer knew it was fixed when locations sent by BMW Assist to the vehicle came through
