Uk snow and the M2.
OMG my M2 so poor in the snow ! tried to get up a small slope to my house this morning and nearly destroyed the wheels hitting the curbs!
Might now get some winter tyres on some BMW rims for the winter ! or part exchange it for a New M340 ix ! |

Get a set of proper winter rubber, the M2 handles great. Last edited by detroitm2; 02-01-2019 at 02:01 PM.. |

I’m in the UK and got some Pirelli Sottozero 3 tyres when the temperature dropped. It has utterly transformed the car in slippy conditions! If it’s ice, you’re still screwed, but apart from that it’s night and day versus the MPSS tyres.

I live up in the North of Scotland, yesterday it took me nearly 3hrs to drive 65miles. I have 513m's and Pirelli winter tyres. The car drives brilliantly, totally solid and planted. Winter rubber is the way to go.....

I swapped to a dedicated winter set up just before December. The couple of times I drove the MPSS in freezing temps were awful. I couldn’t imagine the hell of driving through winter worrying I’d kill myself if I so much as went half throttle. Let alone the embarrassment of trying to drive it in the snow.
My set up cost about 1200 quid, Michelin Alpins and some 18” Alutec wheels. The wheels were pretty cheap and would much rather tickle a kerb with those than the standard ones. |

I’ve been toiling about getting a set of 763M alloys only and putting my summer tyres from the 788M onto them. Then get a winter tyre I can put on my 788M set and use them for winter.
Out of curiosity anyone had a rough price for 763M wheels only from any of the UK dealers? The replica’s online do seem a reasonable price, but I think I would rather stick with OEM. |

I bought a set of 763m wheels with Cup 2s from Cotswold BMW for £3200 with free delivery. They advertise on Bimmerpost. Speak with Alex Lander. Before you ask, if you only want the wheels they don't knock £1,000 off the price. Someone already tried that with them. I get my M2 Comp in March so hopefully I won't need to worry about getting a set of Winter tyres just yet, but I can imagine I'll end up having the a set for track, one set for Winter and another set for the rest of the year. Don't kid yourself.
A 2WD with winter tyres will pee all over a 4WD with summers on. And a set of winter wheels and tyres will be less than you'd lose swapping cars. ....and the tyres last twice as long if they only on the car half the year and you can sell them on later... Win win win. |

Had no problem myself in the snow with Alpin 4’s. It was quite comical really, I came to a step incline, four cars or so scattered at various points up the hill and one in the hedge, as I approached you could see them all stood at the side of the road thinking ‘he’s got no chance’ then I just cruised up the hill weaving around the abandoned cars
