Tracking Production?
I'm tracking production on BMW's website. My vehicle "entered" production 3 days ago but no progress since then. How long before any progress? I didn't ask about a Build Week from my CA. I guess I need to do that.

My CA just told me my Build Week is 7, specifically Feb.8. I understand that most are built in 24 hours. Is this true?

Yes. I think I mentioned that in another reply to you. It's actually less than 24h. I've been in touch with an acquaintance who works on the X5 line and saw our car get built on Tuesday morning.
As I understand it, the body shop creates the bodies unassigned and is currently running at capacity. As your VIN comes up in the queue it will be assigned to a finished body just as it's getting ready to enter the paint shop. After paint it only takes a couple hours for the car to be fully assembled, filled with fluids, fired up for the first time, and on to final quality check. |

Well that does sound promising. Mine went into production status just over a week ago. ETA to completion went from 2/6 to 2/5. Hopefully it's on time. I have to return my current lease on Monday which forces me to rent a car

These modern assembly plants are amazing. I have toured BMW's plants in Dingolfing, Regensburg, Munich and Greer. The new VW plant in Chattanooga is also worth a visit. I really enjoy marveling at the engineering and technology.

The tracking in My Garage shows my order as delivered. Does this mean my dealer sold my order out from under me? I was told earlier this week that my car wouldn't arrive until next week after being told the previous week I would have it by the end of the month, barring weather delays.

There are a number of ways to tack an order once you have a production number - depending on what stage it's in: 1) Website - register and then use your build number to register/add your vehicle to "My Garage". Once you reach the "production begins" step, this site gives you your VIN and gives you your "current" status (which seems to not be current): https://securelogin.bmwusa.com/login? 2) Automated line - gets you similar info that the website can, but tells you your vehicle's expected completion day once you are in production: 800-831-1117 (Stay on the line and when the robot-voice asks you to tell it the reason for the call, say "vehicle production status". Say your production order number or partial VIN and it should tell you the estimated completion date). 3) BMW Genius - talk to a person...good for the most accurate current build week and current status but they never relayed the expected completion date. Call, get a human, provide build number - ask for your build's current status: 844-443-6487 |

how long does it take to get the production number after you place the your order??
I placed my X5 order on Jan-30 and on Jan-31 afternoon, my CA emailed that they got the approval to start production of my X5 on Feb-08. Does this mean he has the production number now? |

Sounds reasonable. I got my production number on the Monday, Jan. 28 after the previous Friday when I believe my order was submitted. My CA emailed a copy of the VIR with the production number. I went to the BMWUSA website and started tracking. A VIN was already assigned. No progress since it moved to production started. MY CA says it should be built on Feb. 7.
Added: Called the customer service number and the robot voice told me the same thing. Vehicle should be finished production on Feb. 7. Getting pretty excited.

Placed an order on Jan 6 and received notification that my G05 has been "allocated for production" yesterday (Feb 5). I am not in a rush as I don't need the car until the end of February / early March so I guess my dealer deferred production to avoid having it sat on their lot for too long.
