New m240i Owner, just saying hi!
Hi Everyone. Recently turned in a '16 Volvo S60 R-Design I was modifying for a few years and decided to upgrade a bit to an m240i. Absolutely love this car. I've been lurking a little while on these forums and have been able to learn a lot about the f22 and b58 platforms via all of your posts, input and knowledge sharing.
Just wanted to quickly say hello and post a few pics of my car. I plan to do a mod thread as well as I have quite a few coming down the pike here shortly. So stay tuned. Looking forward to learning and contributing where I can! -Jared |

Thanks everyone! I would loved to have gotten my hands on the blue color as well, but ended up getting a great deal on this one as it was a turned-in dealer demo with only 7k miles on it. I was hoping for sure to get into either the blue or this color, so was def a win for me!

It's matte black base, metallizer on top and then finished with 2 coats of satinizer. Was really happy with how it came out except for the grille. It was almost perfect (lots of trial and error!), but felt like it needed to be a little better. I just swapped it out for a double slat grille with the M coloring. Bought it at Trinity Autosport. The window trim and mirrors were a pain too. Grile and spoiler where pretty easy though. I really like how the matte/gray color looks against the orange. Will probably be my running theme as I alter the car. Here's a few closer shots: |

I didn't want to do the standard matte black, so I played around with various combos before settling on this. Really the whole thing was kind of a science/art project at first! The matte black and the satinizer are the only ones you want to do the wet coats with, like they explain on DYC. The metalizer will progressively bring the color from matte black to a graphite. The color is called Graphite Pearl. I only did two very light dustings. Makes it look like it's been bedalzzled at first, lol. But when you lay down the satinizer it brings the 'glam' down on it and gives it a nice gray/black matt. |

I bought a plain can of black and was going to play with it on my old truck. I've watched videos and doesn't look too hard but don't want to experiment on the new car. Closest pep boys is a hour away, I'll find some. What you did definitely looks great I'm going to have to do some research. Thanks for sharing. Also going to have to wait until this polar freeze is done. High of -4 here today.

Fonzi on DYC has a really great tutorial on how to sand out a drip or imperfection if you get one so you don't have to peel and start over. Works really well. FYI: Pep Boys is selling it for 25% off right now if you buy online, if that matters. I think they will ship as well, but not sure. |

Congrats! The car is beautiful! Welcome to the Sunset Orange club.
I was also thinking about getting Estoril Blue when I ordered mine, but saw one with Sunset Orange at the dealer and was sold. Also, since the color is new, I’ve yet to see another one in the 6 months I’ve had the car which makes it even more unique! |

For 7K miles the paint looks brand new - looks really well cared for. Very nice, I just picked mine up in White and it's been a complete joy every time I get in. Congrats.
