CG Precision Variable Sound Controller (VSC-2): Fits/Works with M2C

Just a PSA, but I bought one and installed it last night. Functions just fine. I will say the shorter pigtail coming out of the box is just long enough to reach the exhaust valve, assuming you are bolting the box to the exhaust hanger.

I know - you want pictures or sound clips, but I don't have any.

Isn’t it just a exhaust valve controller? I don’t intend to be critical, but $200 seems like a lot when bimmerlink does more for a fraction of the cost.

I might be missing something here so please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

It comes down to convenience as it can be integrated with the home link button or a fob controller. Ie no need to launch bimmer link etc

Anyway that is my take when I had a quick look at it.

Yes, but I'm an Android user and Bimmerlink is only on ios so far.

Exactly; no need to connect to the obd or use an app.

These were known to the F80/82 crowd for the past several years.

Bimmerlink doesn't have a fixed memory setting. The valve position resets every time you shut the car off. You have to reconnect your phone to the ODBII controller and open the app to open/shut the valve each time you start the engine. Doing it manually like that each time you get in the car is a huge pain in the ass and it takes forever.

The CG VSC-1/2 on the other hand will default to the setting of your choice (automatically) and it can instantaneously be controlled via an included remote or the homelink buttons on your rear view mirror. No phone app or OBDII connection needed.

I've used both methods and I currently have and use the CG VSC-1 on my OG M2. It's much better and way easier to use than bimmerlink. 100% worth the money if you value being able to control your valves quickly and easily.

Has anyone hooked this up to a blank button on our center console kind of like how AMG cars can open and close the valve with a button on the console?

That would be cool but this system requires you to press 2 separate buttons (I would assume because each one sends a different signal to the box under the car) in order to alternate from open to closed, rather than just one button press that alternates the valve position each time you hit it. Therefore I'm not sure if repurposing that blank adaptive suspension button into an auxiliary switch would work?

Unless you're an electrical engineer or someone who has the time and patience to figure that all out I would just do what's recommended: program it into 2 of the homelink buttons on the rearview mirror and call it a day.

THIS! You answered all my questsions in one post. I'm trading in my M4 for a '20 M2C and I was contemplating Bimmerlink vs the VSC-1. I had the VSC-2 on my M4 and it was awesome!

So you've got the M4 VSC2 and it's working with the M2 Competition?

Please confirm, I only ask as I've just taken delivery of the M2C and just sold my M4 with an MPE and a VSC 2 . . . . which is really annoying, as now I'll have to buy another.

Correct. CG precision labels it as the "2015+ BMW M4 F82" model.

Wait so the VSC1 won't work with my M2C? I need the VSC2 like I had on my M4?

Correct. The thread title is important.
M2C has 2 valves, not one.

I called CG Precision and they think the VSC-1 will work. They believe BMW has installed a splitter so that they could run the dual valve system of the M2C while using the same wiring harness they used on the OG M2. They encouraged me to wait until my car is here. I'd love your thoughts on whether or not that sounds plausible to you...or better yet a picture of the valves and the wiring.

It does seem possible that they may have used a splitter, but you'd have to take apart the trunk liner to find out. From the outside, there are simply two different plugs coming from two different grommets.

Thanks for checking. I'm just going to return my VSC-1 and get the VSC-2 I'd rather having something that has been confirmed to work. Thanks for posting up your experience with the product.
