Help me locate this sensor please - TIA

Hello, I'm thinking this is a question for anyone who has done specifically this before or with a tech manual.....

I've got a p2201 code, NOX sensor. Where is this sensor located and what is the OEM replacement number?

Thanks for your help

There's 2 NOx sensors. One at the base of the DPF and one halfway down the exhaust. 20mm wrench to remove it. IT may be covered under extended warranty or similar.

don't replace it just because you have a code for it... figure out why it is on.

NOx sensors are covered under warranty. Not sure if all 335D's are covered but I did receive a letter from BMW informing me of the extension. I can look up the exact years/mileage that they are extending them to if anyone's interested.

Thanks all for your replies!

170k miles on my D, I don't think I'm getting any warranty love on this. As for finding the reason why it failed, I'm guessing either a bad electrical connection at the connector or a failed sensor. This won't be the first exhaust stream sensor to fail, they live a brutal life LOL.

So, are these accesible from under the car or??? What do I need to get to them? I'd like to just replace bank 1 which is showing the error, so that's the one I'd try to get to.

Gotta remove a handful of panels underneath the car. Super simple work. The Bank 1 NOx sensor wire connects right by the fuel filter. Follow the red wire and you'll find your target.

I would get a BMW specific code before replacing anything.
