Mysterious High Spot on Roof

I recently discovered this small 'high spot' (protruding dent) on the passenger side roof panel. Sorry, was difficult to photograph, but easily seen in person.
Any ideas how this got there? I'm sure it's an easy fix, but does anyone know what's under the roof skin that could have placed pressure at that spot? Perhaps some torsional pressure caused it? The car is pretty rigid, sometimes on 3 wheels getting in and out of the driveway. Even wondering if this could be covered by warranty?

That's pretty weird. Is the headliner fine?

Headliner is fine! There was nothing placed inside the car, would have had to be sharp and strong to penetrate the liner and poke the roof skin. It's just weird. No weird rattles or sounds from that area.

It has been relatively cold here in the early mornings, but wouldn't think that would cause a random pimple to form like that.

Well you lucky bugger.... Good chance that'll need a roof replacement from BMW.
Maybe fund a carbon fiber roof and BMW pays for labor?
Maybe they'd go halves on the roof itself lol.

Not sure if you've owned it since it was new but that may be the result of a shitty attempt to remove a dent. That my guess.

Is the roof aluminum on these cars? If it's not a good PDR guy can probably fix that otherwise as others said I would try to arrange warranty to cover replacement and see if you can pay extra for the CF roof.

Well that's a first. I'm interested to hear how your local BMW service department handles this situation.
