OPF's, what about other brands?

Hi all,

Just wondered how come Porsche has managed to make their cars continue to sound this good despite the new regulations?

Bit annoyed that BMW makes the M2 so quiet yet others have managed to keep their cars sounding great...

I'm thinking notably about the porsche 992 in this video:

I don't think just BMW owners are troubled by the new requirements. Aren't the next gen GT4 and next MY GT3 owners freaking out about this very issue? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere...

What freaks me out is if it becomes cost prohibitive for manufactures to continue investing in sound engineering, because they now have a smaller market and everyone ends up getting it in the anoose.

Well we are headed that way anyway, with the push to electric power (aka, appliance experience).

Long into the future after ICE cars are a relic of the past the next geration will find themselves at a old school car meet and someone with a sick exhaust will rev it as it gloriously screams. Their faces will light up with excitement as the mighty engine roars. “That’s so freaking awesome!” they’ll all say as they hear an ICE in real life for the first time ever. I’ll be the old guy shaking my head and saying “you poor sheltered bastards”. Sure it will politically incorrect to say that in the future, but who gives a F. Grow an pair, padawan.

One of my many fantasies, don’t judge.

Correct, there were (are?) rumors that Porsche won't produce separate US variants without the particulate filter even though technically the US cars don't need them as far as I know. There's a known drop in power and sound but the drop in power is somewhat negligible and the sound can be compensated for albeit still sounds better without.

Part of the freak-out is there were rumors that Porsche was going to add it to the current MY GT3s, RSes, etc. once the factory opened back up and then you'd have some folks who took earlier delivery with no particulate filter (more power, better sound) and folks that were getting the short end of the stick. As far as I know, that didn't happen and they haven't started to add the PFs yet.
