M2 Competition BSM [ongoing]
I was looking for a new car, and it had to ace a few rules that I've made up on my own. The driving experience was crucial, and I would need to feel an emotional connection to the car. However, absolute chaos was too extreme, as the car had to achieve a decent level of comfort with a high-quality cabin that ultimately narrowed down the search to a German-made product. The vehicle also had to be relatively affordable, by my standards, so that automatically kicked out the GT3 Touring. Finally, the transmission had to be a manual.
The first car that came to mind was a GT4, and after driving the car, I immediately noticed why some people genuinely adore them. It's a brilliant car with a few small drawbacks like the poor luggage space. Ultimately, being quite tall and having longer than average legs, I found myself having a hard time being comfortable in the car because of the little amount of space behind the driver seat. After ruling the GT4 out, I considered what it would be like to find a Jet Black E90 M3, No Sunroof and 6MT (owned a E92 M3 in the past). It turns out to be pretty tricky. After a few months of searching for one and no luck, I decided to look elsewhere. Also, I realized what a bonus it would be to find a car that can pass my made-up rules as well as having the most up-to-date tech inside, which means locating a 2018-2019 model. After browsing around the internet for long periods, the M2 Competition began to become more appealing. I was lucky enough to test one out for 15 minutes, and after giving the key back, I had a hard time not wanting more. Finding the right one turned out to be more difficult than I had initially thought, some vehicles on the dealer lots in California were sold above sticker. After two months of searching, I found the perfect spec that had just docked at a nearby port and patiently waited for it to arrive at my local dealer. I'll update this thread with more photos and owner reviews as time goes on. 2019 M2 Competition Black Sapphire Metallic Black Leather with Sunset Orange Stitching High Gloss Black Trim with Pearl Chrome Accent 19" M Forged Black Y-Spoke 788M Wheels Executive Package 6 Speed Manual Transmission _DSF1375 by Ki, on Flickr _DSF1396 by Ki, on Flickr _DSF1397 by Ki, on Flickr _DSF1401 by Ki, on Flickr DSCF1407 by Ki, on Flickr DSCF1404 by Ki, on Flickr --------[Updates]-------- 01/27/19 - Cars & Coffee Malibu 01/31/19 - Planned Modifications (not in a rush, M2C stock is bliss): - M Performance Coilover Kit - M Performance Titanium Exhaust or Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust Slip-On - Project Kicks R40 Open End Racing Lug Nut Set - IND 54mm Stud Kit - BMW OEM DTM Alcantara Steering Wheel - BMW OEM Euro Sun Visor Set - M Performance 763M Frozen Gold Wheels - Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 - Fall Line Motorsports M2 Competition Oil Cooler Guard 02/07/19 - Angeles National Forest Last edited by ki__; 02-26-2019 at 05:27 PM.. |

Fantastic looking car! But I'm biased Your spec is identical to mine except I've got the carbon trim.
The black 788s, as well as the Orange stitching, just look badass in person with BSM Have fun! |

Wow...BSM really does compliment the shape and bulges of the car - this looks awesome, congrats!

The M2C looks epic in black. All these photos make me wonder if I have made the wrong call in changing my mind...

I guess I believe you are either a black car person, or you aren't. It's a commitment to owning a perpetually dirty car... |

Thank you

I think the orange stitching is more subtle than the blue. It works really well at night when the BMW buttons glow sunset orange Agreed BSM FTW Quote:

Congrats on the car. Looks great!
I also live in CA and was shopping around 2 weeks ago. I found two local dealers willing to sell at MSRP but I ended up getting a better deal purchasing out of state. It's being transported and should arrive next week. Did you end up getting a deal at or below MSRP in Southern California? |

This looks awesome! I'm currently trying to decide between black or silver wheels. So hard to decide! I feel like I want the contrast of the black on silver, but this does look good.
Also, I have a GT4, and think if you're looking for something you can drive year round, without worrying about it, the M2 Competition will be a much better choice.

That said (and this goes for your car colour choice too), it's all down to personal preference. You're the one who has to look at it every day and maintain it. Good luck. |

I think I'd eventually get some aftermarket wheels for summer anyways, and use the OEMs for winter. These would look KILLER on a BSM M2C:
