Get a muffler delete and throw yourself a good injen intake that is coming out soon. They both work together.

i honestly wouldn't make it an either/or thing. I got the aFe cold air intake about 3 months ago and it sounds incredible and i definitely felt an performance boost. this week i changed my exhaust with the Rogue Engineering IKON cat-back system. Also great sound and performance increase. These upgrades work great together but if i had to choose one over other i'd say go for the intake because sound-wise, it is the more noticeable of the two (at least for the driver or people inside the car). Also, the intake is cheaper than the exhaust and is a DIY thing so there's no installation fees.

The best price for the aFe cold air intake is on AutoAnything.com (about 20% cheaper than any other website, and shipping is free) just go to the site, go to air intakes > cold air intakes > then in the top right enter your vehicle info and it picks your afe cai. It costs about $320. Installation took me an hour and no special parts we're needed.

I'm uploading a video to YouTube soon showing how rad the car sounds.

If you need anything else, just ask nickle.

The video link is of the car sound from the inside is:

video of revving from outside:

and oh no of course it wont void your warranty. i had the same doubt too but i went to my bmw dealership to find out if it would void anything and they said that the only thing that can void a warranty is if bmw can produce sufficient evidence that an aftermarket product caused directly caused engine damage. A cold air intake will not damage an engine. so theres no worrys.

actually, your last paragraph is not 100% true. There are some really picky dealerships out there. the Intake will be a big "finger pointer" if there is an engine problem. Cause they can blame the modify intake for messing up the stock setup. but usually 99% of the dealerships don't mind.

IMO, best to just remove the aftermarket intake when your car is goign to get serviced. it will probably take you no more than 30 mins to remove/install the intakes.

I personally have a ikon + K&N drop in filter. Sound wise is good, not too loud, but a bit too quiet sometimes. but then, I am getting better response than stock.

yea 323d is right, 99% of the dealerships dont mind, mine turned out to be one of them. So if your arent really sure think your's could be that 1% and wanna be extra cautious just swap your aftermarket for your oem each time you get serviced. obviously just make sure you don't toss out your original filter box.

Definitely if there is something engine related the service folks will do their best to get out of the situation and blame you. It takes about 10 minutes to take mines off.

from what iv'e read i feel like there isn't really a consensus on the implications of removing it. and i feel like if they don't do it perfectly you could have just fucked yourself and your exhaust system. maybe ill just wait and buy an eissenmann or however its spelled and not ghetto rig it, i feel like its risky...your takes?

i find the muffler delete mod to be a big too loud.. i know exhaust mods are for sound, but for sedans especially, i am looking more of a deep tone rather than a loud roar..

the ikon will be a wonderful choice. Since your gonna to cut the exhaust system anyways, maybe u can spend a bit more money and replace the resonator to muffler pipe to a bigger diameter. this way you will get a bit more sound than just replacing the muffler part.

Imo go for exhaust first and maybe later intake .
I got the BMW Performance Exhaust , and all i can say is that i love the deep sound it gives the car ! At the beginning i was a bit dissappointed but after some kilometers of driving the sound improved alot and now it is fantastic !

The Air Intake is on order so i canīt say lots about that except that i used to have 1 on my e46 and i loved the sound it made !

tough decision m8 ^^

I'd do the exhaust over the intake but IMO for the price, there are much better aftermarket alternatives like that from Active Autowerke and Eisenmann.

uuni...we carry these parts for your vehicle so I would be happy to help out with pricing for you as well.

Regarding the afe cold air intake, I have a 2006 325 xi, sedan, completely stock. I just went to the site autoanything.com and they have the intake for my vehicle ( afe ) , but, I was really interested in the K&N intake and apparently they don't offer it for this vehicle .

So if I were to change my stock intake to the afe cold air intake , would it increase the horsepower and gas mileage ? Just curious to know from members who may have actually had an overall improvement.
Thanks in advance to all member replies.

it increases horspower by about 10-20, gas mileage by about 2-4, torque about 10-20 pounds, and it sounds wayyyy cooler when you slam the gas. so basically its a cheap way to make your car faster.
