Made a appointment with my local BMW dealer because the video in park doesn't technically work also, when I put DVD in nothing happens. Maybe there is an update to the software/firmware? I will let you know what they say next week.

Coded all three video options via Bimmercode on 2018 F48 with HU_NBT_EVO head unit, 6.5” Touchscreen, Carplay.
-Video from USB -Additional Codecs -Video in Motion (Two steps to remove Speedlock as well) At stop with parking brake on, USB port is real finicky on what files it will play, and can only hear audio on those that it can read. No video present. Music files on the FAT32 USB stick are fine. DVD’s do not play in the head unit, CD’s only. There is a CD option on the iDrive ID6 media menu only. Anyone actually able to play DVD's in the head unit or play video from USB on the F48 model after coding? |

Nope, because the transport is only a CD transport, not DVD, so no surprise there.

Hello, I have just tried to code Video in motion today in my F48 LCI and it has not been possible. It seems to have disappeared from the Bimmercode coding list.
I have sent an email to Bimmerguru also and they have answered me that the HU_NBT_EVO head unit of the car doesn´t support it. So it seems impossible... |

Wow, my 2012 Infiniti G37xS Coupe plays back video using a USB stick or the Video composite (yellow) input and my previous daily/winter which was a 2015 Subaru Impreza Sport hatch with optional sound system played videos from the phone or a USB stick. BMW needs to step up their game.

You're able to play videos. Why can't I play MP4s from my phone while the X1 is in park? In fact I can't play any videos. I haven't tried a thumb drive but why would this be any different than a video in the same format off your smartphone. In my case it's a Samsung S10 less than a year old.
